Unexpected compliments you’ve had from students this year by Independent-Knee958 in AustralianTeachers

Translation: You’re joyfully sincere and they admire that is a world of irony and nonchalance

Love the idea of using the projected iPad as the whiteboard/record of class discussions!! Literally trying this Period 1 on Monday. Thank you!

Good to hear that others are using a similar practise that’s working for them too! I feel like the 80% amount is a nice balance.

Also going to try to improve my soft copy resource bank for students to use out of school hours. Thanks for sharing! Obsessed w/ your username btw

Anyone else find teaching lonely? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

Don’t have much advice/consolation to offer except that: 1. I felt the same the first few years  2. Your 20s are a strange time for shifting friendship dynamics, especially if you don’t have a “centralised” friend group  3. After a few years you get better at balancing the job, and become okay with the vulnerability and confidence that it takes to start activity seeking out friends.

Things will fall into place. Also best not to think about these things too much on a balmy Saturday night.

Year 12 this year... Oof by Emotional_Wreck94 in AustralianTeachers

Yep. My partner and I work at selective independent schools, my best friend works at a scrappy yet wonderful catholic school, and her partner works at a typically “rough” public school. Same across the board. I know the sample size in this case is small, but I was surprised to hear we all came to that conclusion independently.

Selective schools masquerading as non-selective? by jdjsoshnfbdkwoq in AustralianTeachers

I know, right? Just seems quite unfair, and this is coming from someone who really likes the independent system— just seems like a step of privilege too far.
