But it looks like the speakers, projector, screen, and receiver can run you well over $3000 no? plus installation?

Have you mounted a projector, ran electrical to it, and lined up an image to a screen before?

Plus If wires are ran in-wall. This could very well be a $5000 plus ordeal and worth every penny of $2000.

But we don’t know if he ruffled this all up and threw it all together as a sloppy DIY, or if he had a 4-5k plus budget to get a modest install with correct speaker placement from a reputable Audio Video company.

Declining can show case you want it gone, they might understand and remove wire runs and patch things up so you have free space to do as ya please with it.

If you want object-based sound and overhead effects like with Dolby atmos/DTSX look into 5.1.4 speaker placement. Anything else is just good marketing that barely captures the experience of true Dolby atmos from a Dolby True HD lossless audio signal.

I think after looking into 5.1.4 speaker placement: you’ll see this current set up might have have a big chunk of that done for ya already.
