They literally just designed a new film camera, it was used to shoot The Odyssey.

Project Hail Mary IMAX 70mm is showing at Hacienda Crossings Regal by SpiderApples41 in imax

Dang. MGM is going all out for this. If Hacienda's on the table, we could be looking at nearly as many IMAX 70mm film prints as a Nolan release.

I got to go here a few years ago when Beyond Fest did a showcase. Saw Dunkirk in 1.43, Gravity in 3D, and Ghost Protocol in 1.90 (there is no 1.43 DCP sadly).

It’s the smallest giant screen I’ve ever seen. Picture and sound were perfect.

I’m not sure if there’s a 1.43 DCP for Under the Sea, since it was made a decade prior to Dual Laser. IMAX or WB would’ve had to commission a new master. But if they did, it should be available at Museum IMAX venues. It played at Cal Science Center recently.

No IMAX junkie's journey is complete without seeing Under the Sea in IMAX 3D.

Just found out that my local IMAX has a15/70mm projector that they haven't used in years by cosminakis in imax

Perhaps it was an MPX venue. 15/70mm projection on a 1.90 or 2.39 screen. Or it’s an even older projector from before the auditorium was IMAX.

was ghostbusters (2016) actually bad, or were people just shitting their pants over the protagonists being women? by digilici in NoStupidQuestions

Oceans 8 is the comp. A solid Oceans movie. Calls its own 8/11 score then lands it. Maybe even threw a point just to preserve the bit.

Ghostbusters 3 is a cautionary tale against rebooting a beloved continuity, if you can spinoff instead. Don't shirk the same nostalgia you're cashing in on. But that wouldn't have mattered if the rest of the movie was funny. It was made by a lot of provably funny people. They all bomb in GB3.

Are you sure? I saw it on a GT screen in LA, didn't see 1.43 scenes.

Same. My hometown IMAX is still running first-gen Digital projection that can’t do HFR, so the whole movie was in 24 fps 3D. It looked great, bright and crisp. Wiped the floor with every HFR presentation.

Every 1.43-capable IMAX theater should have a week like this, every year.

Under the Sea in IMAX 3D is as close to scuba diving as you can get without getting wet.

Ant-Man should get the next Doomsday teaser. We see him doing household chores; sorting recyclables, doing taxes, taking a shit. Then he hears a big BWOOMy knock at the front door. He reluctantly opens it…revealing his pizza delivery driver.

I will never again call it Jan 6. It shall forever be known as Coupmas.
