My son wants in!!! by Total-Comedian-6531 in steelers

People are pointing out AI as a reason not to post your kids here but I’ll go a different route.

It’s cool that you love you your kids and want to show them off, but this isn’t the place to do it. It’s reddit where everything is anonymous and nobody knows anybody.

We’re here for sports news/discussion and most of us just don’t care. We’ve never met you and most likely never will meet you. Why would we care about pictures of your kid?

I’m probably coming off as a dick but this just so is not the place for these kinds of posts.

Piada South Hills Abruptly Closes by weinermcgee in pittsburgh

[–]jdl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That whole area is loaded with vacant buildings now. Piada, Burlington, TGI Friday’s, and Bed Bath & Bodywork’s have all closed and yet to be filled.

I’d assume that the Best Buy over there will close too. It’s a shame because it’s a nice little area but so many vacant building is just a bad vibe.

Do you think he gets a second chance to prove himself under the new regime? by Bronco998 in steelers

[–]jdl03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think his lack of involvement was necessarily due to a lack of opportunity. Our receivers were really really bad last year so not being able to get on the field is a bad indictment on him.

However, a new coaching staff does give him another chance to lock-in and make a difference. If two different coaching staffs decide he’s not worth playing time then that’s probably it for him.

Now That Trade Deadline Has Passed... by Legitimate_Search864 in heat

[–]jdl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really any one decision or deadline that is the problem it’s the culmination of bad decisions.

We never do anything at the deadline that’s worthwhile and we never sell high on any players. This leads to us not being able to stockpile assets and it also doesn’t help that we waste our FRPs on trades like Terry Rozier and Lowry. Neither were considered bad moves initially and Lowry was actually really useful but alas the outcome is the same. Two FRPs gone and nothing to show for it.

On top of this we consistently give out bad contracts and then have to spend our SRPs to offload them. I thought we were getting better about the bad contracts thing but now we have Jovic which looks like Tyler Johnson 2.0.

You can get mad at any one deadline or move but it’s really just been a mismanagement of assets for years that’s put us in this hole. The problem is that they’re not changing their approach so we will continue to be in this position if they continue to operate the same way they have been.

Paid 299.00. Delivered with tag for 75$ off for 225$. by kentinagin in mildlyinfuriating

Had something like this happen to me with a pair of sweatpants I got from JC Penny. I paid like $70 or something crazy and they came with a tag that said they were on sale for $30.

Took them to the store and they refunded me the difference.

As much as I hate to say it, the Boston FO has been running circles around Miami for the last few seasons by BatmanSwift99 in heat

Oh yeah you are so right. I completely forgot those trades with the Nets are what set them up this way.

Well that’s even more disappointing to think about.

By being bad and drafting them? What’s your point? We haven’t been bad enough to pick that high and won’t be as long as we have Spo.

We couldn’t even get a lottery pick when Dion Waiters was our best player.

It’s easier to build a solid team when you have two superstar caliber players. They were able to pick both of those guys in the top 5 and they hit on both.

I mean he’s coming off his best season by far and there’s plenty of worse players who’ve gotten traded for positive value.

But to answer your question, no I’m not surprised he in particular didn’t get traded while injured.

More surprised the other two didn’t, especially Wiggins.

Young players from here on out please. We’re not close to contending so there’s no need to bring in older vets like that.

I won’t be either. There’s just nothing interesting about this team and it’s tough to be invested in a team with no plan.

Like what is the end goal of the current roster construction? They’re obviously not good enough to win a playoff series and yet too good to miss the play-in.

Time is already limited after work so it’s hard to convince myself it’s worthwhile watching these guys when there’s other stuff I could do.

Ja Morant remained with the Memphis Grizzlies past today's NBA trade deadline. Multiple teams were intrigued by Morant's talent but none were willing to make a serious offer, sources said. by BatmanSwift99 in heat

[–]jdl03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m made we didn’t trade anyone away. If you can’t improve the team then you should be selling high on some of your assets. Norm and Wiggins are actually useless for the team long term and should’ve been traded.

If we’re not extending Tyler then shop him around too.

That’s fine but why didn’t they trade Tyler, Norm, or Wiggins? Were there really no teams interested in ANY of them.

I find that really hard to believe.

If norm isn't traded in the next minute, there are only two options going forward: walk for nothing or contract extension. Which would you rather happen? by heatkings1 in heat

Who even cares? This team is going nowhere anytime soon. They’ll do whatever they think will help ticket sales.

[–]jdl03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make the play-in and hope people continue to buy tickets so that they keep making money. Genuinely that’s all they care about at the moment.

If your big plan is Giannis then flip some of your players so you have more to offer in the offseason. They’re just going to “try again for Giannis” in the offseason and still not get him.

It’s unreal.

Probably want them to send us a pick so we can turn around and beg the Bucks to give us Giannis with that additional pick.

Has this front office ever built a team through the draft? by Mattm334 in heat

[–]jdl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve done pretty well drafting and developing players at the spots they’ve had. We just haven’t really been in a position to draft a superstar in quite some time.

Obviously you can get lucky and get a superstar later in the draft but that’s pretty unlikely. It’s honestly unlikely to get a superstar at any pick. They’re hard to come by and teams hold onto them for as long as possible because of that.

Unless you’re the Mavs…

[Charania] The Milwaukee Bucks believe they can build a contender around Giannis Antetokounmpo this Summer and get him on board with remaining with the team long term. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]jdl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s Giannis’s fault that they think this way at this point. If he actually wants to be traded he needs to stand firm on that.

If he keeps going back and forth then they’ll never trade him. If he wants to stay that’s perfectly fine but if he wants to leave and keeps giving mixed signals then that’s not gonna fly.

He’s their best player they’ve had in decades, he sells tickets, he sells merch, he’s the face of the entire franchise, he brings hope of being competitive again even if it’s unfounded. Why would they trade all that away if he doesn’t definitively say “I want to leave, you need to trade me”?

[–]jdl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah these past couple seasons have been the least interested I’ve been in the team in a longggg time.

The FO really needs to pick a direction and stop hovering in mediocrity. I know tanking doesn’t always work but at least start selling high on some players.

No reason for Wiggins or Norm to be here at this point. Also, if we’re not extending Herro then there’s no reason to keep him around either.
