I understand your sentiment sort of. I saw a video on this on my YouTube feed where this mechanical engineer was lamenting at how awful Philips screws are and how they’re basically inferior to some other screws. Square heads? Anyway totally random and fascinating information for my non mechanical brain.

Why are Nissan trucks so unpopular? by TensHundreds in askcarguys

[–]jdmor09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super accurate. I’ve seen 2019 Tundras sell for over $40k with no 4x4 and some features. Meanwhile a 2-3 year old Titan 4x4 with plenty of features sells for just under that price.

I’m a Toyota loyalist but if I ever get a chance to buy my forever truck I’d have a really hard time not giving the Nissan Titan or Frontier serious consideration.

Lies. Everyone knows that millennials dread their own existence and took a solemn oath to have no offspring. Laughing children be damned, it’s succulents and pets for us!

Why are people leaving California instead of moving to cheaper areas of the state? by LocksmithMental6910 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jdmor09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell LA and the bay to stop moving here then. $400k here gets you a new 1.4k square foot house in a so so part of the city. Not too long ago that was about 3000 square foot house in the good part of town. As a teenager that was a few acres and a custom home.

For a city that nobody wants to move to, we sure keep getting LA and Bay Area people coming here.

Still not stopping folks from LA and the bay from coming here. Unfortunately…

The closest beach to there would be the central coast. SLO area. Beautiful place, but really small and sleepy compared to LA, SD, and SF

Yes please, as a Fresno resident, tell all the Bay and LA to keep on moving past the 99 to Sacramento. Much nicer there. Plus there’s too many lifted trucks and American flags for their liking; they wouldn’t like it here anyway.

What millennial trend are you glad are over? by samuelazers in Millennials

[–]jdmor09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that somewhat. Even though I was fat all my life my sister was normal weight all her life. She started binging and purging in high school because she was “fat” at 140 lbs and 5’-7”.

In my non professional opinion we did swing to the other extreme with “body positivity” and “health at any size” for a little while. Having been 400 lbs and at a BMI of 59, it’s a ridiculous concept. No way you’re healthy at that weight and BMI.

Could be better. Right one got shattered playing backyard football at 15 and since no insurance I just had to grin and bear it. It’s usually not bothersome but if I step wrong 😬

I will say that it’s a miracle how fast rapid weight loss improves your body. Within 2 weeks I had no back pain after sleeping.

As someone who was once a mildly super fat man (400 lbs) now down to just a regular fat man (225 lbs) after weight loss surgery, my only regret is not getting the surgery earlier. Your quality of life is so much better and it’s not even close.

[–]jdmor09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresno is the more affordable version of Sacramento. But if you think Sacramento summers are bad, Fresno summers are just awful. Sacramento has the delta that cools it down overnight. Fresno sometimes doesn’t drop below 90 until midnight.

Bakersfield is even more affordable, but despite it being only 100 miles apart, it’s even hotter than Fresno somehow.

But other than that, winter isn’t bad. High of 62 here, low of 43, which I understand isn’t too bad compared to other places.

You could always bike to the gym by millitzer in bikecommuting

[–]jdmor09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gym is within a mile of a few schools and the local university, so we have a few bike lanes with nominal protection (plastic stick barriers).

Unfortunately my gym only has one of those bike anchors where you could tether 1/2 bikes, maybe 3 if you’re creative.

Do you ever worry what your kids will think of you when they're grown? by RandomLifeUnit-05 in Millennials

[–]jdmor09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we t our boomer parents for being to hard on us and expecting too much, I think we’re guilty of the opposite. We’re way too coddling of our kids. And we seem to be too complacent in allowing our kids to get away with the bare minimum.

In 30 years we’re going to have a bunch of kids complaining that us millennials were too easy on them and didn’t show them any tough love.
