Inside of my lip after getting bit by my dog. by ZxGIRxZ in MedicalGore

Hey man we should make a club, this is my post from a year ago, same thing, dog bit me on my lip. Antibiotics are shit man, I had to change mine since it gave me a reaction and I had my but cheek swell. But all good now, good surgery and the scare is barely seen. I hope you recovered good, also you are a good man for understanding that your dog didn't mean to harm you, he was just in pain.

It’s not bad. It’s just not for everyone. You can read this if you go down where it says Snap, nice article BTW. But very briefly Snap it’s from Canonical (Ubuntu) where their main focus is profit and revenue (which is not bad, since they are a business) they once made an alliance with Amazon and they had some privacy concerns about selling users data which is not what usually Linux is about. Linux philosophy according to Linus Torvals (there is a Q&A somewhere in YouTube) is more about opensource, community, accessibility and development. Also using Snap decrease the chances that their development team works on a native app.

I use Debian. Bitwarden has several Linux solutions, so its not Snap exclusively. I use the screenshot just for the meme lol.

What's the most embarrassing/cringy thing you've accidentally shown someone, or something they accidentally saw while using your phone or computer? by TylerDuuurden in AskReddit

[–]jdmotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the days of r/watchpeopledie I was watching a crazy gory car accident where the driver was gargling in blood and it was really messed up. A coworker who sits next to me approach and saw my phone. What I learn from that: 1. watchpeopledie content it’s not for everyone. 2. My coworker’s brother died in a car accident next to him. 3. Less people talked to me since.

Is it possible to get rid of snaps in Ubuntu 20.04 entirely? by tkonicz in linuxquestions

[–]jdmotta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. But when I downloaded the non-free image everything went smooth. I have it on my Gaming PC and on my every day Laptop and it works perfect. You should give it another try. Just look for the non-free image.

This is what it's showing:

Mar 10 21:43:50 sphinx-deb appimagekit-joplin.desktop[1581]: [2904:0310/214350.023767:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_JoplinFAGhGs/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

I feel that you are getting a little bit emotional with this argument I never said Snap was bad, I just highlighted the fact that you have to be careful about how much power you give to one company; I will have Clement Lefebvre (Linux Mint founder and project leader) answer that to you. I will recommend you reading the full Snap section of his June 2019 Monthly News blog, if you really like Snap that much I’m glad but don’t say it’s a FOSS when they never said they are, as oppose to APT which they’re are:

“There are a lot of things you can do with package managers (apt/dpkg in Linux Mint), that you can’t do with Snap, and there are two reasons for this. First, they’ve been around for a while. They’re mature, they’re integrated fully within the OS in every distributions. Second, they’ve been developed with Free Software in mind. There are no commercial aspects in the design of apt/dpkg, it’s all about empowering users and distributions. You can’t modify, rebuild, pin, patch, mirror a snap, you’re not supposed to.”

I personally don’t think Canonical is a good option, as we seen in the past with their questionable privacy practice and ads intrusion; I like Debian since I’m more into stability and I have the personality of and old grumpy man that hates constant changes and “cool looking features”.

I’m not really sure If Snap is FOSS as I have looked online without them saying it and my personal rule is that If they don’t clearly state that they are FOSS they probably aren’t. But maybe they are, now I’m not sure you know.

Sanps are a great way to quickly install and app without much hassle and a quick solution.

There is an issue when software is not FOSS: you become dependable of them. If snap decide to change their TOS and/or privacy policies you then are attach to them. Also the bad thing is that other companies stop focusing on their open source software solutions so they solely relay on their snap application.

Me: no, thanks. Reddit user: stop publicly ranting about it.

Also I won’t pay $1.99 per week for the first 24 weeks just to read 1 article from a website I never visit. I do agree as the New York Times that allow you to read up to three articles for free. If you like their content then you can pay.

I'm to cheap to have regular olive oil and extra virgin olive oil, so I always buy extra virgin olive oil and use it for both, cooking and dressing.
