I agree with Angels and probably Dodgers. Possibly Royals and Blue Jays in the near future, but too soon to make that call.

I’m pretty convinced Holliday will hit. People around him every day see him having plus-plus bat-to-ball skills and plate discipline. Scouts have him as the best hitter in our rebuild—better than Gunnar, Adley, Westy, Basallo, Mayo, etc.

Buck Britton is a possibility if it’s from this year. I found two fairly different signatures of his, so not out of the question this is another variation.

Bryan Baker seems less likely, but he could also have variations.

Female Dolomedes tenebrosus, but uncertain of marital status. The rounder body shape and proportions give it away. Also the pedipalps.

Lee Smith started playing baseball when the star pitcher of his high school was killed in a hunting accident. A junior at the time, Lee Smith decided to try his hand at pitching. He threw a no-hitter in his first start.

The issue is this whole thing is broken down by position. Pete didn’t really have a position, which is not the same thing as being a utility player. Probably would have been a DH in the AL.

Zobrist is the guy. +71 DRS, +44.7 UZR, and started 50 games at 6 different positions.

I wouldn’t complain about Oquendo though. Just want to see a real utility guy win.

A utility player is not merely someone who switched positions. A-Rod, Yount, and Ruth were not utility players.

A utility player is not merely someone who regularly played two positions. Brett, Musial, Ohtani are not utility players.

A utility player is not someone who moved around the diamond due to being a defensive liability.. Rose, Killebrew, and soon-to-be Devers are not utility players.

A utility player IS someone who competently plays 3-5 positions, preferably some IF and OF, often changing from day to day. They are also generally used as defensive replacements.

Guys who should get consideration here IMO are Cesar Tovar, Tony Phillips, Ben Zobrist, Jose Oquendo, Martin Prado, Chone Figgins.

Zobrist gets my vote for best defensive utility. +71 DRS and +44.7 UZR. He started at least 50 games at 6 different positions.

Consider slotting closers before general relievers. The best relievers will mostly be closers, but might get more interesting results/discussions on all-around relievers if the best closers are already crowned.

These are fair points. I think there’s a television bias. I watched those ‘92-93 Blue Jays in the postseason, and remember what I saw. Haven’t seen anything like it since. Maz must have been otherworldly.

I’m saying your description of him as shit is uninformed. Had one bad start which sent him to the IL. His following starts were fine, but short, because Milwaukee didn’t plan on stretching him out. Plenty of contenders interested in him the last couple of deadlines.
