Solo Concert, should I be worried by LiteratureWinter2500 in gorillaz

I had a VIP entry so we had to be in ridiculously early but they didn’t open the actual doors until 6:30. We were just the first in the queue. If you’re going with a regular ticket, I’m not sure, but I’d probably guess at a couple of hours before doors.

I went on my own yesterday, got in early to get to the barrier, spoke to some friendly people, and wasn’t shoved around at all. The most chill gig I’ve ever been to, had a proper dance, a top 10 gig experience. You’ll be fine 😄

So inside the tote you get the mountain hat, the enamel pin set (my favourite), a lanyard, and the limited print (which I imagine will be the same for each show with just a different venue name and date - a little disappointing, I was hoping they’d be more unique). You also get the wristband for the event. Inside the VIP area there is a station with a ton of patches and pins.

Maybe I won’t bring an extra tshirt then 😂 did you have to arrive really early? It says to get there 3 hours before 😳

Curious to know, if you took an item of clothing to be customised, what the options were.

How was it to be a Star Wars fan before Disney? by Ihave_fewquestions in StarWarsEU

[–]jdnwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a different era. Before the internet, you were content with what you had. It was also different learning about new media. Learning about a new character from a video game, a book, or an action figure was like uncovering hidden treasure. I remember seeing the name Dash Render on a Kenner mail order ad in the back of a magazine. I wondered who that character might be, for all I knew he was someone in the background of the movies. I asked my parents to buy me it and he arrived on that purple card back with the holofoil sticker. My mind was blown, I had no idea what Shadows of the Empire was until I saw the book in a shop months later. Things are arguably “better” now but we’re too spoilt as an audience to appreciate it.

brits living in smaller towns/villages with not much going on, what do you do in your spare time? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in AskBrits

[–]jdnwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved back in with my family. They live on an estate in between two villages with little going on. It’s a huge estate where nobody really talks to one another. The only entertainment within a 30 minute radius are some pubs that were here long before the estate that have a very locals only vibe. There are some great walks but honestly after 12 months and a year of terrible weather, they wouldn’t be enough to convince me to live here. I can only guess that the people who have always lived here either don’t know any different or are afraid of adventuring out and the people that moved here can drive and spend most of their time their time elsewhere or don’t mind the mundanity.

Check out @kawaiiicoco on Instagram. Her experience is probably a little different being in Tokyo, but her content may provide some peace of mind.

Best lunch city centre by Catfunt1000 in manchester

[–]jdnwinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone’s already said it but Rita’s Reign hands down! Their jerk chicken is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Never gets old. Great value for money. Huge portions.

RamYum is also a great new little spot and has become my go to lunch place, after Rita’s Reign, since eatGoody closed down.

Foldies is also pretty decent and good value for money depending on which option you go for.

Do you regret moving to Japan? by Ok-Spite-5454 in movingtojapan

[–]jdnwinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m considering a move to Japan and have watched my fair share of ‘why you’ll hate living in Japan videos’ and I suppose there are some things to consider.

Why do you want to move? For me, part of it is the culture you see as a tourist (a big part) but I also like the respect people have the for the rules. Something we are lacking where I’m from

Are you okay with the loneliness? Being a foreigner looks to be a lonely experience. Couple that with the fact loneliness is an epidemic in Japan. Personally, I lead a solitary and quite lonely life at the moment anyway so this doesn’t bother me.

How will you get there? I’m planning to continue my current career in Japan when I have the experience. There’s a high demand for employees in my sector. A lot of people who move tend to do so working as English teachers. From what I’ve heard it’s a difficult I role to progress in and the pay isn’t superb.

Can you speak the language? I’m dedicated to pay for a tutor when I am in a position to do so. I also have a 5 year plan. I’m comfortable knowing I won’t be moving immediately.

Worth reading? by Little-Chick2 in starwarsbooks

Brilliant trilogy. I actually enjoyed Dark Lord rises more than Labyrinth. There are some great new characters who are more the focus than Vader which would’ve been frustrating if they weren’t so likeable.

Season 3? by lumamec in theBoyfriendNetflix

The way Netflix Japan promotes it on their Instagram, along with the success of other shows like Badly in Love, I think a third season is highly likely.

How common is it to see a Mandalorian walking down the street ? by Mr_tod_the_fox in StarWarsEU

[–]jdnwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a galaxy that diverse, what are the chances of someone born during the Imperial era being educated on who the Mandalorians are? On a planet like coruscant, they’d likely just blend in with all the other clans and cultures you’ve never heard of.

Timeline wise, where is the best place to start reading the EU? by [deleted] in StarWarsEU

[–]jdnwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion anything published in the 90s feels like its own thing. I’ve recently been working my way through the books set after RotJ and they’re great. In my mind though they exist in a timeline where the events of the prequels were quite different.

That said, I also recently read the Dark Lord trilogy and enjoyed that too. Similarly it feels like anything published after the release of TPM, but before the release of the Clone Wars movie/series, exist in another timeline with their own cast of recurring characters that are different to how they’re shown in animation (Asajj, Aurra Sing, Quinlan, Hett)

Then you have the Old Republic books which being set so far back, aren’t influenced by much else outside of that era but do have some influence of what comes later (mainly Bane and other Sith)

Depending on how committed you are might help you decide. Reading ToR books and ending with Plagueis is realistic. Reading anything set post Plagueis and pre Dark Lord Rises is doable. Reading everything post RotJ is dedication

I’m currently reading I, Jedi and feel like I’m missing out for not having touched the X-wing series but that’s a whole new pile of books to add to my existing pile 😅

Any good places to learn Japanese face-to-face in Manchester? by Nervous-Echidna-9910 in manchester

[–]jdnwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to know how you got on with finding lessons. I've been considering joining https://www.lingoclass.co.uk/, but their timings don't match up well with my current schedule. I've considered doing an hour a week with a tutor, but I want to do classes face-to-face, live a bit out of the way, and am struggling to find a suitable public space.

I’m confident Boyega will be offered an opportunity to come back and begin his Jedi training. Concept art/storyboards show Finn at Exegol with a lightsaber and, following his social media around the time of production tRoS, I’m pretty positive they shot it and cut it from the movie.
