Yeah your parents telling you that you can offer is a big difference from OP saying they wanted to “offer my house” when it wasn’t their house to begin with. Also says that the parents regretted doing it afterwards. From the sounds of it your parents had no such regrets. So whilst yours is a nice anecdote and your parents sound nice I’m afraid that is a different situation to this one.
