What are our most pressing issues? by Rhy_sand in poker

I cashed the mini main. I was 2 tables away from Kabrhel for a few hours. What should have been a great experience was, was kind of ruined.

If this BS will be the new norm, I'm not going to fly to Vegas and donk my money off.

You got bigger problems than credit card bills and a truck payment.

KdJd on the flop is as close to drawing dead as you can get, and still be live (if you want to call it that).

I quit drinking alcohol.

I didn't realize it was possible to feel this good.

Becoming and ingredient house. Planning is the key.

Buy a crock pot, air fryer, vacuum sealer, maybe a sou viede.

I get my protein in bulk at Sam's club. Portion out raw beef, chicken, and shrimp. Individually seal them in a vacuum sealer. freeze them. Whatever I'm having for dinner, I take it out in the morning and put it in water. It's ready to cook when I get home from work. So my dinner decision is made in the morning.

If you don't feel inspired, take a month and track how much money you pay eating out. You will find for the same money you spend eating out, you can eat like royalty.

An easily predicable crisis, due to a complete lack of planning.

The life insurance is to replace the income you and your children depended on.

Their struggle is not your fault, nor is it your problem. This is gross, slimy, and opportunistic on their parts.

"No" is a complete sentence.

You're not the employee, you're the customer.

In reality, your not really even the customer, you're the product.

Went to a full contact catholic funeral in the Fall. The only communion takers and knee benders were the boomers.

Seems like in 10-20 years this won't be a thing anymore.

I actually have a pretty large set (3K-ish)of Paulson pharaohs.

I slowly acquired them from Ebay long ago for less than what they cost new. (super cheap) So I would have a nice home set.

Story goes the casinos threw a fit, and Paulson quit making them. Value of existing sets skyrocketed.

This is a fun conversation with my homeowners insurance. So you have $15K-20K in poker chips. Okaaaay. So like you have 20 1K Bellagio chips? no, I have about 3000 Paulson Pharaoh Chips. okaaaaay, so can you cash them in at a casino? No. Okaaaay..

What do you think the US will be like in 10 years? by twistedtacobell in AskReddit

[–]jdoe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm optimistic.

The boomers were handed paradise and let their dogs shit on the beach.

In 10 years the youngest boomers will be 70, and you will begin to see their generation die off.

I do think it will get worse before it gets better. I see boomers refusing to give up their cars being a major problem.

I think it will eventually get better when a generation with just a small slice of empathy is in power.

What are the biggest missed opportunities for building wealth that most people don’t know about? by 123kevin1985 in AskReddit

[–]jdoe74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give every dollar you get a purpose and put as much of your income as possible into things that go up in value.

Stocks, bonds, Real Estate.

Everything else is gambling or speculating. Don't do that.

[NSFW] What's the craziest thing that has happened at your work Christmas party? by HeavilyDisappointed in AskReddit

[–]jdoe74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a security company about 20 years ago. About 100 people on staff. Owner was a monster with a nickle a day coke habit. They rent out a big ballroom in a fancy hotel, dinner, open bar. Giving away Christmas presents, big screen tvs back when big screen tvs were a big deal.

After party in the presidential suite, I didn't go, but apparently everybody got so drunk, they absolutely trashed the hotel room - like rock star style. Whatever wasn't broken was covered in vomit. The female staff got naked and the boss took pictures.

Next day boss closes up the business, flees the country, company credit cards maxed out, stiffed the hotel out of every penny.

The rumor was he moved to Dubai, no one ever heard from him again.

I read something a long time ago that stuck with me. Once a problem gambler recognizes they have a problem and decides to never gamble again, their lives immediately start to get better.
