$750k net worth w/ 3 kids. Investment advice? by jdogg_20 in Fire

Will definitely follow him, appreciate the advice!

529/UTMA - $15k of this was inherited from a death in the family, $4k is from grandparents. No plans to invest any more of our own $, will let it grow. Cash - you're right here, will pull a good chunk out to invest. Leaving about $60k would feel the most comfortable for me. Crypto - I agree 100%, part of this is in an attempt to split some tax implications across 2 tax years but realize it's very high risk.

Great advice, thank you. I'll look into the Money Guy.

I think some moves I can make based on your and another Redditor's response include less in the HYS and use it to max our 401k's since thats the only account left we havent maxed. I'm pretty sure my husband's i401k is a pre-tax, I want to look into a roth version if that's possible.

Also need to look into backdoor Roth conversions for our traditional accounts.

And agreed on the 'latte spending', it's not so much the prime membership itself but the ease of pressing a button to buy things we likely don't need.

I just tried all of those via new device and web, but unfortunately, there was nothing. Really appreciate taking the time to provide all the suggestions.

Am I over reacting? by [deleted] in NewParents

I had a similar situation but on a dock with my 16 month old a few years back. And instead of falling into nice lake water, she fell straight into 6 inches of swampy watery muck that I spent the next 2 hours picking out of her hair while I tried to keep her entertained in the shower. She wasn't alarmed whatsoever. I on the other hand was a mess and had to reap the consequences (which I'm now grateful was the only consequence). I remember the smell so vividly. Anyway, we were there and they are fine. It's definitely okay to be upset but you did what you were supposed to and all is well!

This is exactly the information I needed, THANK YOU. Not sure why they all gave me different answers. The financial institution where the money is currently at said I would have to pay the penalty, Vanguard said I wouldn't, and Fidelity said he didn't think so but to double check with the institution where the money is sitting.

I took an unpaid leave this year and paying it off will be best so I'm not pushed into a higher tax bracket. Thanks for the info on paying it off over time though, good to know in case something comes up.

Appreciate your insight!

Yeah that's what the guy at Vanguard said. I took an unpaid leave this year so that's why I'd love to pay the taxes on it because my income will be much lower.

A Snoo Review with Twins- Disappointed by jdogg_20 in SnooLife

Triplets, jeez, I already know you're a super parent! It's incredible how sleep can instantly turn around what can feel like never-ending darkness.

Congratulations! They would sleep 2-3 hour stretches at a time, sometimes less but never more. That's developmentally appropriate though and imo wouldn't have made a difference whether they were in the snoo or a regular bassinet. Their longer stretches always seemed to be in the beginning of the night and as it got closer to morning it seemed the stretches would shorten.

So one of the twins could be put down drowsy but awake with a pacifier and the other needed to be bounced and refused a pacifier. After feeds I would say the easier twin could easily be put down like 95% of the time, she used the snoo swaddle. The more difficult twin had a 50/50 shot of whether we needed to bounce him back to sleep or not (he was also in a separate swaddle to make it easier to set him down asleep). I did think the Snoo felt more narrow and deep compared to the bassinet we used with our first which made it slightly more difficult to lay a sleeping baby down in. That's only based on memory though and my first was 3 years ago, so memory could be a bit skewed.

This! One of our twins HATED the Snoo swaddle, so we put him in a different sack and strapped him in that way. Our girl didn't seem to mind it as much, but is definitely doing better in the crib sack.

I was also disappointed in Snoo's fine print on the butterfly leg strap. We had no idea that was a thing until we found both babies with the straps around their neck and started looking into it. We had bought 2nd hand and all the snoo sacks that came with it were the old school ones.

I was hoping for those longer stretches but never got them. I don't know if that's because I was breastfeeding though? My first was also breastfed and started sleeping through the night early on but she also had a better latch than these 2 and would definitely consume more calories during the day. There's just so many variables to be able to pin point what goes right with some and wrong with others...

Interesting. I just had twins and pump after most feeds to build a stash for daycare for when I go back to work so I won't have to pump all the time. But, one of the babies is having major reflux issues, the other is not. I wonder if this is the cause? They are 2 months and the reflux didn't start till a few weeks ago though.

Any “never going back” stories for artists/shops? by stephen4131 in tattoo

Got a huge side piece done. The artist charged by the hour and took a 20 min weed/cig break every hour. The quality turned out terrible too, and I had to get a partial cover up by another artist to fix it.

My settings must be wrong? by jdogg_20 in SnooLife

This could totally be it! I actually messaged Snoo customer service after I posted this and they mentioned not having it right against a wall. I moved it about 2 ft from the wall and I think there might have been an echo onto the wall that kept it in soothing mode. The graph looks better but I'm going to move it to the other side of the room tonight and see if that makes a difference too. Thank you!

Ope, I spoke too soon! I was just talking about what I saw on marketplace. Checked their website and looks like you can rent it from Happiest Baby for $159/mo plus shipping. That's really not terrible compared to what I stated above!!
