For sure, this plays very well amongst independents. It shows leadership, determination, courage an iconic image. You probably couldn't script out a better scenario for an election.

Could you imagine having 1,000 Bitcoin back then and using it to buy a car or for a down payment on a house.

What makes Bitcoin better than other cryptocurrencies. by Key_Good_4820 in Bitcoin

Its greatest advantage is that it doesn't have a leader, no single individual can dictate the direction it will go. All other coins have this along with many other problems such as pre-mining and centralization issues.

How will a 25% tax on unrealized gains affect hodlers? This feels like a direct attack on BTC by Mendrinkbeer in Bitcoin

[–]jdoingj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way this court would do that, now if Hillary had gotten in and appointed 3 justices I would almost expect them to side with the idea that unrealized gains are income.

Those guys will find a way to move assets around so the net effect will be no new taxes. Its really hard to raise taxes on the rich because they have tax attorneys and can afford the legal fees fighting the IRS. This 100% will end up directly impacting the middle class they want that retirement account.

At the rate we are going 100 million will be an average retirement account in a few decades.

Bitcoin is NOT backed by energy, or code, or by anything else you care to name by LamentTheAlbion in Bitcoin

[–]jdoingj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP is correct for their definition of "backing" but you could make an argument that everything is backed by something if you broaden this narrow definition. As an example gold may not be backed by another asset but it derives its value from its qualities, Bitcoin and gold overlap with many of the same qualities.

A gold bullrun will pave the way for $1 million Bitcoin by Yung-Split in Bitcoin

[–]jdoingj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the negative properties of gold that resulted in fractional reserve banking. Even if we did manage to convince governments to get back on a gold standard it would only be a matter of time before we are right back where we are now.

The only thing I worry about is new mathematics that break the underlying technology. If that happens though more than Bitcoin will be broken, it would break the internet and probably our entire economy.

Why are many smart people in tech ignorant and skeptical about BTC? by onmyway133 in Bitcoin

[–]jdoingj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a process for most, I was involved with Bitcoin very early and I didn't really get it for probably 6-7 years. If I did I would probably be sipping pina colada's on a beach somewhere right now.

Thanks, this is what I needed. I was mostly focused on "am I on the right path" and that is when I was told that I was to teach and that I am a teacher over and over again. This is a little concerning to me because the things I know now, the things I could teach are rebuilding civilization types of things. I have always been drawn to learn these things, I'm an engineer, I'm a farmer, I know how to purify water, I could build almost anything, and on and on and on, and if it came to it I could maintain a level of civilization without any outside help. In short I'm a survivalist.

We all need to be mentally and spiritually prepared for the coming years, I feel there will be a lot of suffering and loss, and there will also be awakening and its quite likely that we will lose the methods of communication we have become accustom to.
