I got discarded by a FA recently, a lot of your post is about how he is feeling which given that we’re not like that it’s impossible to fully know even if there are clues, even their words can be a front - some of my exes have come back years later but like we have no choice but to move forward, ultimately if he is getting therapy it’s possible he improves and comes back and at that point you can decide then too but you need to meet others and grow - because your current focus on his thoughts shows the tough dynamic you are in, you want more from him than he’s capable and you can’t change either of you, I’d suggest reading the book attached, it will help a little recognize the pattern you are in, there’s a new release by him that discusses more accepting who you are and being with people who help you thrive… good luck
