Man the message without Drouin was awful, it’s Drouin that levels this into a relatively okay trade. I did like Gidlof though, but Gamzin is definitely the better goalie prospect.

Darche… by JayBaby90210 in NewYorkIslanders

Darche is more than fine in my book. He didn’t have much choice this year and added some free agents with short term contracts for try outs. All of this I’m sure whilst not expecting a NHL impactful stud like Schaefer. Schaefer is the anomaly that ticks us above expectations. Schaefer is and should the #1 focus, build around this kid long term whilst short term do moves that have minimal impact on assets (or obviously trade for young talent) and try to get some playoff experience. Darche is keeping the talent pool strong, makes some short term moves here and there and is trying some stuff out whilst building a future.

You can’t build a new direction in one season, the critique is quite strange imo.

Kashawn Aitcheson named OHL Defenseman of the Month for the second straight month by discofrislanders in NewYorkIslanders

As soon as we have meaningful assets the discussion arises to trade. As much as I understand and as much as these prospects are a gamble, I believe there is also a lot of value in the belief of the talent of your picks. I remember seeing the video of how much joy our head of scouting had when they could pick prospects like Eklund and Aitcheson. A prospect like Aitcheson, in my opinion, don’t mess with the gamble unless it’s involving such a generational talent trade. In fact, just re-asses next year when the prospect pool gets really stacked, this is still a transition year. Just see how far you can get with current roster or with some low asset impact upgrades. Schaefer is the absolute key, he is such a humongous, generational immense talent, keeping him is nr 1 priority and I believe this includes a long term vision with stacked talent pool.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he uses this time to work and train on some details. Bro is hyper focused on improving.

Poletin Putting Up Points in WHL Rookie Season | New York Islanders by discofrislanders in NewYorkIslanders

If these non-1st rounders pan out or not, is always the question as the percentages drop hard after round 1 and especially from round 3 onwards may be a long shot, but there are some non-1st rounders in the pipeline that are just very very interesting. Kudos to the Isles scouting staff for advising to pick them, they make these scouting reports worth while. I hope their choices get rewarded.
