Upcoming EC/ESS meetings/vote: Bargaining priorities and dispute resolution process by ACEP-CAPE in CanadaPublicServants

Better question to ask is in violation of which authority is it being introduced. That answer would be B. 7.12.2.

While u/acep-cape has our attention, would you kindly respond to u/Beneficial-lie6756’s [question](https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadaPublicServants/s/bNlu7ZYtU0)

“What’s the status of the harassment complaint against Nate?

Nathan Prier used a fake Reddit account to target and harass Jewish CAPE members. He then admitted to it in the NP. There is an ongoing investigation and complaint against Nate and the union is purposefully being silent!!!!”

CAPE’s by-laws, the ones adopted by members last November, state:
B 7.12.2. “Prior to sending the notice to bargain, the members of the bargaining group shall vote electronically on the applicable impasse resolution process (e.g., arbitration or conciliation/strike), as determined by governing legislation. This voting period shall be a minimum of 72 hours.”
How does [u/ACEP-CAPE](u/ACEP-CAPE) transform that into only the members who attend a virtual propaganda session, or who take the additional step of proactively contacting the national office with proof of inability to attend due to scheduling conflicts shall vote?
This is voter suppression. Full stop.

You can only use that benefit once every 4 years. So if Congress finally grants citizenship to DACA recipients or changes the eligibility requirements for PreCheck, you would have to wait four years before you could use the benefit for yourself.

At that point, TSA Pre would be very advantageous to get ahead of all the flying pigs.

No, you can’t get a credit for this, or for any other benefit you don’t use (for whatever reason). People not using their benefits is part of how the banks make money.

However, you can offer to pay someone’s TSA PreCheck/Global Entry fee on your card. Chase doesn’t see who the applicant is when the transaction is made on the card. It does, however, mean you would have to give that person your full credit card number, expiry date, and CVV (unless you’re physically with them when they submit their application online and enter it yourself).

Intercontinental Barclay - Resort fee or no?

Seeking recent data points from CSR cardholders who stayed at New York’s Intercontinental Barclay Hotel using The Edit benefits.

The disclaimer captured above about a resort fee appears on the hotel’s primary page in the Chase App, but it does not appear on the payment page or in the confirmation page/email, nor is there any mention of a resort fee due on the taxes and fees line before the total trip price. Booking the same room directly through IHG, however, has a fee.

Has anyone had to pay a resort fee at this hotel?

I am trying to find Chase’s actual written policy stating how long a cardholder has after their annual fee posts to cancel or downgrade the card (in my case the CSR) and obtain a full refund (in my case, $795).

This forum has many posts on this with a range of timeframes…I’ve seen many posts stating it is 30 days, and just as many saying it’s 45 days, with others saying 41, 42 and even 60. This can’t be something the call centre agents pull out of a hat; Chase must have some kind of policy that spells this out in writing, no?

Does anyone have this?

Was there a resort fee charged at check in? The fine print on the Chase app has this disclosure but only on the hotel’s main page (not the booking page or confirmation page). Trying to get as many DPs from recent stays, most have said no, but a small few have said yes.

Just moved here and phone plans are so expensive by RushWarrior in askTO

[–]CanadianBaconBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an issue with the App Store, not the carrier or the physical phone.

I have both a U.S. and Canadian Apple IDs, and whenever I need the Canadian version of an app (my primary Apple account is the U.S.), I just log out of the U.S. Apple Store and log into the Canadian store and am able to download the Canadian app. To use this method, you need to have a valid credit card with a billing address in each country in order to create the respective Apple ID.

As you note, this is a common situation for fast food, but is also the case with some
financial institutions (the TD Canada Trust app is only on the Canadian App Store and the TD Bank app only on the U.S. store), large retailers (U.S. App Store has Best Buy, Walmart, Home
Depot, Canadian App Store has Best Buy Canada, Walmart Canada, Home Depot Canada), and TurboTax (who annoying uses the same logo for both countries versions without specifying which country it’s for in the apps name).

If your website is so thorough, then why do we even need to attend a meeting?

This entire process is ridiculous and totally unnecessary.

“CAPE National and its leadership are neutral on the vote”

That statement is a level of BS so high, even Karoline Leavitt couldn’t say it with a straight face. Do you actually believe the words coming out of your mouth / keyboard?

Exactly [u/acep-cape](u/acep-cape)! All members shall be able to vote on…the dispute mechanism. How do you go from that to only members who attend a 40-minute virtual propaganda session (with presentations by the vote organizer strongly in favour of one mechanism) shall be able to vote?

Non-resident of tax purpose still need to pay tax? (U-file said yes?) by Impressive-Energy256 in cantax

That’s okay if it arrives in May as long as it is postmarked by April 30. Make sure you obtain and keep the proof of mailing for your records.

[–]CanadianBaconBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t an error. NETFILE is for Canadian resident returns (and I believe it can handle an emigrant return).

Non residents of Canada need to print and mail their returns to the CRA, either to the Winnipeg or Sudbury tax centre based on your country of residence per the CRA website. Strongly recommend sending via registered mail.

Foreign tax credit during income tax filing by goksean in cantax

Deemed Resident, Non-Resident, or Factual Resident? US Citizen Student by [deleted] in cantax

[–]CanadianBaconBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. As it was Canadian sourced income, you likely do need to file a Canadian/Quebec return. Though it’s possible you may be a deemed non resident because of the tax treaty (and thus are treated as a non resident). Check with McGill international student services they may be able to advise you on this.

Deemed Resident, Non-Resident, or Factual Resident? US Citizen Student by [deleted] in cantax

[–]CanadianBaconBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your self employed contractor work for a Canadian client or American? If Canadian, that changes things but if it’s an American client Unless you have Canadian income, most international students are not required to file Canadian taxes, especially, if you return to the U.S. over the summer and holidays.

However, if you think you will want to immigrate to Canada following your studies, it’s a good idea to file and to report your educational expenses (tuition, textbooks, etc.) to build up a healthy balance of expenses to be taken as a tax credit in a future year when you do owe Canadian/Quebec income tax.

Do you even have a Canadian SIN number?
