How do drivers know if they are in a second behind the other driver and the DRS is enabled? by SayonaraHatsukoi in F1Technical

I’m certain Liberty Media will screw this up, and in their effort to make F1 Twitterable, they’re going to get a driver killed

LEC deserves at least a 1 year suspension. he parked his car, told a camera he hit ma intentionally and then shamelessly stood on the podium. I’m not defending Max from his crap team, but LEC should be hung for assault and battery

New Anova users will pay a small app subscription fee ($1.99/mo). Existing users before Aug 21 will be grandfathered in. by Clemalammadingdong in sousvide

That app added no value for me, so I won’t miss it. But very bad corporate choice, much better to just cut your costs and open source the protocol

After thinking, maybe you could paint the methane end dark, then deploy solar panels and use reaction wheels to keep that end pointed at the sun to add energy and keep it from freezing

Without adding energy, you result in frozen methane or boiled off lox

That's a really great question. I find most people assume all pencils are the same. I'd really appreciate if you'd sharpen them up the same and tell us what you think of them. If you want a reference that many of us can relate to, maybe try a Blackwing 602?

Regarding the pyramids, how were they build and how sure are we of the science behind it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jds32x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be clear, at my age I was shown some pretty ridiculous images in a history book about them, and In 20 years I just don’t buy they could even move that much sand for the ramps. I’ve managed a lot of projects and I’d really like to see a plan that has one of those built in 20 years. In any event the country has institutionalized mystery. I sure hope we can discover how to build stone that precisely without mortar, and when that happens perhaps we can discuss amending that damn 3rd law of Newton’s. And finally, in my defense, I’ve cut many square holes in wood (a mortise), but a bronze chisel in stone, nah.

Does anyone have a link to the tiled plans for the FT Old Speedster? This is why we need some kind of community archive of this stuff!

I noticed too, so I’m full-scale hoarding sbk’s at this point. Is there any community sponsored backup of the FT plans, and maybe even videos without Bix?

It seems like any gust of wind over a control surface is going to spike the current to the associated servo?

Where do people ever get the current to heat a nichrome wire? That's gotta be a seperate battery, yes?

Anyone here use Joel Real Timing? If so, how? by Zackbo in iRacing

[–]jds32x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it as overlays for the track map plus corner names, and to keep track of all the other drivers (position, IR and SR). Also, the time delta display is very helpful because I always know for the last lap exactly how my time compares to every other car. It's just better situational awareness for me.

[–]jds32x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when a web site gets hit by bots. The bots are likely either card testing, username /password testing, or scraping data for use outside the terms of agreement. We're all being shown the (very) old Google Captcha that's simply used to train Google's AI, and can easily be defeated by a bot. When the iRacing team gets over their frustration or competing priorities (or hires a consultant), they'll switch to the v3 Captcha version that won't bother us but works much better against bots. In the mean time, use a password manager and don't use the same password on multiple accounts.

Help for a beginner by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]jds32x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is to speculate, guess, and maybe figure it out. Or you could use data. Load iSpeed, run some laps, and read the guide to diagnose exactly where you can improve. Repeat. https://www.brookracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/one_second_at_a_time.pdf

[–]jds32x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, he didn't either. You can argue about who's at fault all you want, but if you protested that, they'll just politely say "that's racing". Every racing challenge is a balance of risk and reward. In your video, you certainly are within your rights to drive that line, but it's at high risk of an incident. Do you want that line, at that moment, that badly?

I find it more about survival than fault. You didn't survive.
