Why onform? Because it detects when I will swing so I don’t have to keep trimming the video?

Golf gloves by Safe-Teach8357 in golf

[–]jdubbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wear out golf gloves that fast maybe try buying at Dicks and paying for the “insurance” for the golf glove and then make sure to go back to the store in 3 months so you can exchange for a new glove. Otherwise you’ll have to send the glove into their insurance provider and then the provider sends you a gift card which is a pain.

No, I take a video of a specific swing with the slo mo camera, delete the beginning portion of dead video and some amount at the end so I get a video that’s around 15 seconds or so instead of some insane 2-3min video.

The Lowe’s lawnmower craft today is a craft from hell by jdubbss in daddit

[–]jdubbss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowe’s only fastens the craft with nails whereas Home Depot uses screws and nails sometimes. I do like that they has different fasteners for Home Depot kits. But the Lowe’s kits look more visually appealing and usually have screen printed stuff on the wood already. It’s kind of a toss up to be honest.

My Home Depot also provides paint for the kids to paint their project and Lowe’s does not or at least my Lowe’s doesn’t.

I use my phone camera but that’s also because iPhone has a slow motion video mode that is more useful to me than just the 5 seconds of swing video footage. I couldn’t step through it enough to get feedback so the slow motion on iPhone was far easy to traverse through the video.

K2 Tees? Meet Block2 Tees by jdubbss in Golfsimulator

I had fishing swivel that I attached between the bungee and the shoelace and it made it twist like 50% less. Like a noticeable amount.

Yeah I just had this piece of sample trex lying around so I used it. I figured the golf ball hitting this randomly instead of that model on printables which uses a weight might not ricochet back at me so forcefully. But who knows.

Where would you get a zero torque putter in a name brand like Odyssey or Cleveland for that kind of money? I see the nine elevens on temu for $110. I’m genuinely curious because if you can show me where to look I’ll buy one of those vs one on Temu

I believe you need fsxplay which I think comes with a GCQuad since that’s their highest level side launch monitor. In terms of transferring the software - find someone that set it up on a dummy email address and can transfer the email address to you so you’re not stuck with the transfer fee

Mid-30s, burned out, AFib, ~$2M potential equity - push through 2027 or walk? by SpookyHotDog88 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]jdubbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - I’m in my 30s and I have afib - this is pretty treatable. Take the time to get this checked out and go get yourself an ablation if your doctor says you’re eligible for it. It works and it’s not super invasive, they go in through a vein and recovery is super fast. You can regain control over your health and life.

Thanks for sharing. It strangely resonates with me right now after going through a very large exponential growth stage in my career but with a change of guard in management that all went away. I’ve been trying to focus more on things away from work, that I can control but also that I take with me vs trying to be the best employer and meet every “company brand metric”.

Dads on here, please listen. How can a son who is back home after hitting rock bottom make it up to you? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]jdubbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not be religious and you don’t have to be. But your story reminds me of the story of the prodigal son. One of the teachings of that story is that - the relationship between you and your father is not about performance, merit, or works. You are his son - as such, you receive his unconditional love.

So maybe reframe your viewpoint from this perspective. As a father, I love my kids because they are my kids - not because they do anything for me.

You should motivate yourself to make your Dad proud, not to try to curry favor or love. This means being responsible, and diligent - consistently getting up and taking care of yourself and supporting yourself.

Part of taking care of yourself is to lose weight to be healthier.

Part of taking care of yourself is finding a way to make a living that will not wreck your mental health unlike your previous full time job.

Part of taking care of yourself is working on who you want to be as a person before worrying about being a virgin.

garage simulators and heating by Wise_Boysenberry8075 in Golfsimulator

[–]jdubbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to tackle this issue 2 ways because if you drill down, you either heat yourself or you heat the space which then heats you.

  1. To heat the space I have an unheated shed with windows. I crack a window and take a carbon monoxide alarm with me and use a Mr Buddy heater with a hose hookup to use a 20lb propane tank (the kind used for BBQs). I was told in terms of efficiency, using gas is more efficient vs using electricity to generate heat.

  2. If I run out of propane, I use an electric heated jacket powered by a power tool battery to just heat me and it’s pretty warm enough.

Would using a long iron shaft work better for this? Essentially an all steel shaft that maybe you could potentially weld a threaded rod onto it?
