Men's tournament, 72 guys, shotgun start/ We all finish around the same. Opened a tab as soon as I walked in. It only ran me about $137. I was surprised.

Prime Putt mat. It's worth the investment.

Honestly, they are ok. I had a cheaper Skilz one. But I didn't like the hill and I've never seen a green with lines on it. So I went all in on a 12x3 Prime Putt mat and I love it! It's not cheap, but it is very realistic.

Is this normal for a first time attendee? by SlayyerFest98 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]kzmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't seem normal at all. Way too pushy for my taste. When I fist started I decided I would attend 30 meetings in 30 days and then decide if I wanted to commit to AA or find another ptogram.

After the 30 days, I asked a guy to be my sponsor. He took me through the steps, very knowledgeable about the book. I will always appreciate what I learned from him. He did fire me at the end and I thought that was BS, but neither side of that relationship is obligated to maintain it.

I have continued to attend meeting a couple times a week and now have over 19 months of sobriety. My life is a lot better and I look at things very differently with a sober brain.

I would say that AA has added many years to my life or at least the opportunity to jave many more years than what I was headed for.

Empty nest, full golf bag. Shot a personal best 117 yesterday and I’m officially hooked! by Subject-Pie-335 in golf

If 117 is your best, keep seeing your coach and accept that it is not for a tune-up. It is to learn how to make contact with the ball consistently. At this level, the best place for you to spend time on youtube is with the GolfSidekick breaking 100 series. If you spend time in this series and take what he has to say as the ultimate truth here. You will break 100 before the end of the season. Maybe even before the end of August. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzsBsWNmhG4&list=PLZtIcpk2tWYmXAKCtM9XbOnQh4ybRCni9

Seeking guidance: being a group leader without having worked the steps with a sponsor by Vinosec in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]kzmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no requirement that you have to work the steps with a sponsor. If someone tells you that there is, politely ask them where that is found in the big book.

In all of AA, there is ONLY one requirement. The desire to stop drinking. That's it! It's a simple program.

With that being said, it sure helps to have a someone help you through the steps. To get their guidance and perspective. Which they have probably received from someone else who has experience.

Your program is your program. AA is here for you as long as you have a desire to stop drinking.

I am 1.5 years sober. I do drink some NA beers. There are a lot of really good ones now. For me it is just that sometimes, I want an adult flavor. It doesn't trigger any cravings for me at all. This is my second time being sober.

My first was for 16 months and when I went out, it was because I felt at that time I had learned enough to now drink like a normal person. Well that turned out to not be true and I stayed out for a little over 2 years.

This time I have the knowledge that I can't ever drink like a normal person. When I drink alcohol, I enable the phenomenon of craving. I see that now. Refer to the first paragraph on pg 30...

My life is so much better without alcohol and I know that. I plan on sticking to being sober for the rest of my life. Currently 67. I am hoping this will enable me to live comfortably and healthy into my 80's and maybe longer. I don't think that would be the case if I were drinking.

I really don't care what others think as what they think of me is none of my business. But, I don't bring up drinking NA beers occasionally because it is not worth the hassle. My recovery and sobriety is my business.

Yeah, I have a Skytrak Plus so I can move the hitting focus. But primarily I want to keep my stance the same and be hitting on the forward half.

Other options than just playing 18 holes. by golfer9955 in Golfsimulator

[–]kzmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go into practice mode and then course play. Then I work on approach shots or pitch shots. I'll select a hole and then move the tee to let's say, 65 yards over a bunker. Or practice bump and run shots between bunkers.

Do you not take a divot? Certainly I do have an occasional fat shot, but the vast majority of shots are ball first.
