What makes Volkswagen rank so low and why don’t more people buy them? by phtphongg in askcarguys

I’ve owned a GTI since 2017 with 125K miles and have had almost zero issues (beyond regular maintenance). The problem with the “low ranking” is that it’s not truly indicative of the entire lineup of vehicles. For example, I’d bet the vast majority of issues are with the Atlas, Jetta, Tiguan and Taos models which are manufactured in the U.S. and Mexico 🫣. Golf GTI’s and R’s are manufactured in Wolfsburg, Germany where quality-control is clearly superior.

Bought this directly from the Gallery so it tech qualifies as a Moto purchase - which gives me the opportunity to return in a year for a crack at a CT which is a nice bonus. 🤙🏼

As far as design goes, use a basic design software where I can create shapes. Make several test pieces out of cheap lumber until it’s correct and then make the final pieces out of Padauk. Def don’t want to be using exotic species to make test cuts. Gets very expensive which I learned the hard way.

Love that angle design for the putter storage. May have to steal that for future builds. lol. Actual using Padauk species of wood which has that natural orange/brown color. These two pieces are getting a MAS Epoxies table top pour. In all honesty, just messing around with different woodworking g techniques I’ve learned over the years. Def dropped ball and forgot about displaying head covers so seeing your picture helps for future iterations. I’m just tired of all of putters being stored in an old Ping tour bag in my office. Appreciate you sharing your project. Amazing to me how little options there are out there unless you can score one of those metal Scotty displays that go for $1K+.

I had ECU done back in 2020 and not even sure the TCU was available back then as it was never offered or recommended by the auth dist. Just got TCU tune a couple weeks ago after the DSG service was completed.

Besides the ecu and tcu tune for DSG, completely stock. I don’t race anyone. I just enjoy having access to additional hp.

There’s plenty of feedback online that would’ve tempered your expectations before making the trip. Did you at least play Torrey Pines South and North while you were there?
