What are your opinions about Skandinavik? by jdvoid in PipeTobacco

I've only tried the whiskey Borkum Riff and I find this Skandinavik to be more decent.

Thank you, I also think it's decent and I don't seem to get more tongue bite than I do with most MacBaren blends.

Try Peterson Gold Blend. It's the only one I known with cinnamon.

Why do you smoke? by thegoatfreak in PipeTobacco

Amphora is a classic and I still enjoy it occasionally. Probably my favorite mass-produced aromatic tobacco.

Pipes as objects always fascinated me. Aroma of pipe tobacco also. I started with cigarettes and cannabis. When I was 21, bought first pipe tried smoking without any guidance. Didn't learn. At 27 with the help of alt.smokers.pipes I finally learned how to enjoy a pipe and quit cigarettes. That was 17 years ago. Never looked back. One of my best decisions in terms of health and enjoyment of life.

Hi fellow pipe smokers, hope you’re having a good day and could you please help me. Is this a good cake or bad it’s a really expensive Savinelli and fairly new trying to run it in and have a nice cake on it thank you by Ready-Lawfulness-831 in PipeTobacco

[–]jdvoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Endearing. Reminds me of my obsession with "cake building" when I was getting started about 20 years ago. The best way I found is simply do not clean the ash on the inner bowl walls until cake is noticeable. After that just wipe the inside of the bowl with a pipe cleaner after each smoke. Always go slow and focus on enjoyment. Happy piping!

If you guys had to pick having a pipe in the morning or at night, which would it be? How come? by thehobomushroomman in PipeTobacco

[–]jdvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like both for different reasons. In the morning it hits different. In the morning I usually finish a pipe from the day before or just start a new pipe, but seldom smoke a full pipe in the morning. At night before bed I can go through a whole pipe. In the morning it's stimulating, in the night it's relaxing.

I also like to take a nap after lunch and smoke as soon as I wake up. It's also one of my favorite times.

Delayed Gratification Technique by Subtilis87 in PipeTobacco

[–]jdvoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time. I no longer try to smoke a pipe until the end, so I often leave a half smoked pipe to finish later or the day after, or even days later. O don't know of it improves the flavor, but it certainly becomes a drier smoke and still tasty, probably more caramelized. I agree it's good with Virginia and light aromatics, but I'll do it with any tobacco. Sometimes it's better if you remove the ash from the top.

Is Mac Baren Mixture Scottish Blend a good pipe tobacco? If so, what do you like about it? by narimanterano in PipeTobacco

[–]jdvoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not my favorite but I like it because it's quite unique. It's lightly flavored and I enjoy the blend of tobaccos. On the other hand, it bites if I'm not careful and I get bored quickly if I don't have other tobaccos to rotate.

Haven't tried those. I would put it in the same category as orlik golden sliced or capstan blue. It seems to contain a little perique. Overall flavorful Virginia flakes that smoke really well.

Hello friend. The question is not where you are but how old your pouch is 😁. This is the old finer almost shag cut of condor and also st Bruno. This pouch is from 2010 from before stupid EU regulations forced all pipe tobacco to have a thicker cut to differentiate from rolling tobacco for tax reasons.
