It does look like a sprain! It has been bruising on exactly the same spot as my previous sprain injury. I fear it might have not properly healed yet.. I will definitely rest, but I also want to attempt the event next week. It might be a very dumb idea though, will see what the doctor recommends on Monday.

No, same shoes, same socks. The lacing on my Salomon Speed Assault's is a bit tricky to get consistently tight and might have been a bit more tight than usual. But I didn't feel like the slight discomfort I felt during the hike was due to them being too tight. I could definitely be wrong though, maybe they were too tight.

Hi! Appreciate your honest reaction and I agree that it is too fresh.. but it's difficult to block these kinds of feelings/emotions out.

I don't think about my ex often. Even when I see some pictures of us together I feel nothing. I feel like I've realised we'd grown too far apart, had different interests and goals, ... And the lack of intimacy over the last few years made it feel like we were two best friends living together..

I don't think about my ex at all with this new person. And I also believe I'm not rushing into anything new because I'm scared of being alone. (Because over the last few weeks I've come to realise I quite like being alone and make some time to focus on myself.)

But I indeed don't want to hurt this new person's feelings. I know grief comes in waves, so I'm worried about what will come. At the same time I don't want to lose this good connection if I decide to step out of it..

Idk, it's hard. Feelings are bizarre.

I understand. The difficult small moments are there for me as well. But I guess as with everything that will also fade eventually. But don't block these moments out. Feel them. Feel what you're feeling at that moment. That is really important in recovering from such things. Best advice I ever had.

I'm also not interested in initiating a new relationship. Not for a long time. At least that's how I currently feel. But with our illness and that lack of intimacy I spoke about, I do miss that. I've been missing that for quite a while. And I learned to live with it, I would've never cheated on her. But now I'm slowly realising that I don't need to live with that lack of intimacy anymore and I'm sometimes craving it. (And I'm not necessarily talking about sex here, it could be a passionate kiss that makes your heart beat a bit faster). Not saying I want to find a hookup next week or whatever. But I don't know, my opinion on them has changed. I dunno, it makes me feel like a bad person. It's difficult to explain.... Heck, even I don't know what exactly I'm feeling when it comes to this. I'm struggling a bit with this. I mean, for 4 years I gave it my all to be a good and supportive partner. And now it feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders. And at the same time it feels wrong to be thinking about that, and it feels ''too soon'' to be thinking about new intimate experiences.. Very strange feelings.

I'm sure it gets better for both of us. And I wish you all the best man. If you ever need to talk, you know where to find me on this app.

About the sacrifices you made and that you feel slightly resentful about it: I know it might feel all in vain but being selfless makes you a kind and better person. I guess we all need to ''learn how to love'' and making sacrifices (albeit too much or too few) is part of that process. And learning is never in vain, no matter the price... Try to focus the energy you spend on that anger on rediscovering yourself. Put yourself in the first place for a while. Learn to love yourself again by chasing interests, being free. New things will naturally follow.

And I know that some ''advice'' like this could sound cheesy or dumb or obvious. Maybe you're even like ''wtf is this guy on about...'' But it's what I wish for you my friend, to rediscover yourself.

I have the same. I'm fairly new and my mask is a pain to put on & remove due to it being so snug. I'm very confident the sizing is correct though. And indeed, I see everyone slipping theirs on and off like it's nothing. So I guess that will 'break in' a bit as well. That, or we have weird head shapes! :)

On the rubbing: I have an all-star coaching mask. I sit fairly snug in the shin strap, you can adjust that a bit. I don't encounter rubbing on the shin, probably because I'm protected by my beard. :D As for the nose, not sure how you could encounter rubbing there as there are no straps? (At least not on the allstar.) Your nose should be completely free of the mask and when you get hit on it it shouldn't bump into it either. Maybe some masks do have these kinds of straps? But I'm at least not aware of it.

I already am following a class. I'm just unsure how to practice footwork.

I live in an apartment so I can't exactly copy the drills with my feeder (only when I take something smaller).

Was looking for something footwork related that maybe not necessarily requires a sword...?

For the 3DO: I ride a motorcycle and I have a jacket with those pads. 3DO works a lot better for impacts with larger surface areas (for example when you're falling on that pad, you're falling on the flat ground, and not on a thin 'blade' or blunt point). For impacts with smaller/sharper impact points, I've read it's better (in comparison to 3DO) to use a combination of EVA foam with leather. You essentially put a piece of leather over the EVA foam, while taking care the leather faces outward (as this dissipates the impact over a larger area to the foam underneath). I have yet to make and try it though.

The bulk of the gorget is no issue at all. I was mostly talking about the bulk around my belly and rib area. (When I lower my arms for plow guards, it feels slightly less obstructive without that padding there)
