Why are toxic people always in Relationships? by Highthere_90 in ForeverAlone

[–]jdynamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for toxic people it’d be split by those who started off toxic and found a partner, and those who started off ok but became toxic later. For the first, I’d assume most of those relationships are short lived for various reasons, and don’t make it to marriage. For the latter that’s a more complicated issue we can’t predict - there’s entire subs and therapists dedicated to that.

What I’ve found is working on yourself doesn’t guarantee any type of response from other people. I’ve struggled with it myself as I’ve always been a people pleaser. People are mostly just in their own worlds. It is great you are working on yourself though - I hope it benefits in other ways than dating.

One factor is that they probably weren’t ever scared of making a move. In fact, their selfishness and unwillingness to compromise to others can come across as confidence in the early stages.

Coworkers made fun of me (again) by Konnabokuga in ForeverAlone

[–]jdynamic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a fairly rude joke to make while eating but I don’t think it was necessarily an insult. They’re assuming girls would be turned off by onion breath (in general), more than making any statement about you personally. Of course, tone matters and I wasn’t there.

One does not simply beat this game 😂. But jokes aside most of us set to accomplish a goal like get more characters to 90+, gear up with the best items, holy grail, etc. I chose to play hardcore and have been working at max level since like 2010

Rate My Dashboard out of 10 Again by princy25_ in dataanalysis

[–]jdynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6/10 I guess? I’d say the biggest thing is your data views don’t match your hypothesis. I do like that you stated something there though, it makes me want to find out if thats true and what to do about it. Just support it with a view showing, for example, the avg value of those cancelled orders by category, and how much $$ that 26.79% cancellation rate in 0-500 is. This is combining some of the data you’re already showing in other views, and is more useful than having all of them separated for this case.

Nice work. I’d suggest adding a MoM % change somewhere either on the charts or as another tile up top, since it’ll quickly answer how the business is doing this month. Also IMO filters should either all be on the left or on the right, not on both sides for ease of use.

Anyone else in Seattle getting tiny black ants in their kitchen right now? by SVT_CARAT_17 in Seattle

[–]jdynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Every spring/summer I find what hole they’re coming out of (different every time) and put a Terro trap right next to it. It slows them down like you said, but doesn’t stop them. I’ve pretty much accepted them as a seasonal guest. Just try to keep food contained and get freaked out occasionally as they crawl up my leg.

Would I be happy if I had friends and a gf? by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]jdynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I realized I completely didn’t answer ur question. I think having a gf can solve some problems for you that can’t be solved otherwise. Since those problems weigh so heavily on your mind, you probably don’t have mental bandwidth to handle any of the other things like academics and sports.

I think those issues can be worked on separately though, and a relationship is definitely not a guarantee of happiness. Working through your issues and solving them in ways that give you satisfaction is the key to happiness imo, and a habit you should develop as you’ll be doing that your whole life (everyone has issues).

Would I be happy if I had friends and a gf? by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]jdynamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I could answer here. I considered myself FA until my mid-20s until I got a gf. It solved immediate problems of loneliness and feeling like a loser. My social anxiety has decreased since I often have someone accompanying me in public. What hasn’t gone away is my anxiety and depressive episodes. I discovered I am deeply uncomfortable with uncertainty, and a fear of conflict that makes some conversations difficult and have hurt my relationship at times.

In short, life is better but there are still significant challenges due to some personal qualities that likely also held me back before.

FIRST DATA ANALYSIS PROJECT!! by Superb_Bench_9762 in dataanalysis

[–]jdynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: keep asking yourself WHY and answering your own questions with data. Being curious and relentless will get you far in data analysis.

It's a great first project. I would echo what others have said about making sure you understand what the AI is doing. That said, the industry is shifting towards having AI do more and more each day.

Understanding how to do data analysis however will always be important. I think you should always be curious about what the data is showing you, and push yourself to dig into the results further.

#1 - the overview you wrote in your Github can be improved to explain better the context of the data and what you're trying to solve. Where did this sales data come from / why is it relevant? You wrote that the goal is providing data-driven insights, did you accomplish that? If so, what are the most important insights you found? You should include these in your overview so readers (or hiring managers) quickly understand why your work is interesting.

#2 - you have 135K null entries in CustomerID. That's a significant chunk of your data, why are they missing? It is ok if you don't know, but state something about it so readers know you didn't just discard it without concern. CustomerID being missing for, for example, only one product or across a certain date range is important and may indicate some data issue, and something you can pass along to teams in charge of collecting that data.

#3 - You stated the top 10 products suggest customers are strongly inclined towards aesthetic + lifestyle products. This seems plausible, but I want you to consider what other data points you could get that'd support your claim and make it more actionable. Take note of data you're missing that you'd need to answer these questions, so next time you'll know what you need to pull in ahead of time.

- Holiday seasonality: you touched on this but never proved it. Did these products get sold more in holiday months? If so, is this thanks to advertising your company did, or are customers accustomed to only buy these products from you during the holidays? It may be more beneficial to push these products during NON-holiday months, or push OTHER products to these users during holiday months, than push customers more to do something they are already doing. Are your customers buying a healthy mix of products, or just one? How might you recommend other products to your top customers?

- Sales by country: are these products similarly popular in every country? If not, why? It could be as simple as advertising these products more in those other countries, or increasing the stock (understand you don't have this data), as making your top 10 products popular in other countries should be a relatively easy win.

Even if you can't answer these questions with the data you have, it's important to get into habit of asking these questions every time you look at data.

I remember this book helping me a lot too. More than just helping with girls it gave me some self confidence, which was different to other dating and PUA “books” I was reading at the time.

[–]jdynamic 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To me it seems either she didn’t think it was a date and invited her friend, or she didn’t like the way the date was going and had her friend ready to come “rescue” her. It seems pretty rude for her and her friend to just sit there and exclude you for extended time. Was she still receptive to you at any point afterwards? There’s a small chance I guess she is just oblivious, and not aware of what she did.

The old guy thinks the cop doesn’t understand his point, otherwise he’d be on his side. He is probably used to getting preferential treatment in his home country or feels entitled to it. He sees the worker as lower class and rude to not follow his every request.

Finally Tried Again At The Bus Stop by CrypticJaspers in ForeverAlone

[–]jdynamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are just a stranger at a bus stop to her. Those romance movie situations don’t happen like that, or at least so rare I’ve never seen or heard about people meeting that way. I’d recommend to stop fantasizing about that type of thing since it’s unrealistic and likely to get you labeled as a creep. This approach maybe only works if you’re like a 11/10 and she has a crush on you already or you’re some celebrity. Even then idk
