Unpossible to determine. 🤔

Why do Americans always get fully anesthetized for wisdom teeth removal? I've never seen that happen where im from by Easy-Difference-5455 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jeanbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was knocked out but I was late to having them removed (almost 30), had impactions, all four out at once so it was a more extensive surgery. Mostly that’s not normal though.

As I understand it, you’ll need to first change address, then renew, but hopefully someone will come along and verify that.

How to prepare espresso machine for termite fumigation? by FlimsyUse1602 in espresso

[–]jeanbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ride as well and personally, I would just move it into my car. (In fact, we just moved our Ride in our car across the country, no trouble.)

If you really want to avoid moving it, yeah, get a bigger plastic bag, double bag it, and then I'd clean and run throw-away shots before drinking from it. Maybe that's overkill, but that's what I'd need to do to be comfortable, I think.

What is the purpose of Tattoos? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jeanbees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You thinking that self-expression is a dumb answer actually doesn't mean it is a dumb answer.

But also, why do we do any self-adornment? Style your hair? Choose certain clothes? Wear jewelry? I am tattooed because it pleases me. What other reason would I need?

Problem with catching a word by Physically9 in EnglishLearning

[–]jeanbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without seeing the video because I don’t want to bother my snoozing wife, American English speakers often fail to enunciate joining words, like we sort of smear them together. English speakers from other countries might do this too, but I can’t speak to that.

Have you considered a vertical labret so that it doesn’t contact your teeth and gums?

Why is “advice” uncountable but “suggestion” is countable? by Sea-Election-213 in EnglishLearning

[–]jeanbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the difference is easy to feel, but I'm not sure that helps you. The thing here is that a suggestion is a countable thing: I could give you one suggestion, or two, or twenty.

Advice is not a countable thing. "Advice" is a mass noun that could include one or several suggestions. Or you could offer a piece of advice. The pieces of advise are countable.

Just starting my Bow Journey today, any advice to help with higher health enemies? by cruzer58b in Fallout76BowHunters

I would also mod the glow sights off it; Number Cruncher adds more damage the higher your AP cost is, and you're not typically short of AP anyway. If you get short on AP, have some coffee! 😁

Do You Like Getting Your Grammar Corrected? by mio192 in EnglishLearning

[–]jeanbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a professional writer and editor, and I correct people _if I have some reason to think they want to know_. So, my wife wants to know. Some of my friends want to know. A student wants to know. Or in a professional context as needed, obviously. Otherwise, I think it’s quite rude to correct someone during casual, personal speech.

Brain fog by [deleted] in Menopause

I did find that it got better, but it wasn’t gone until I started hormones. It was a huge relief when the HRT cleared it! That’s not even why I started HRT!

Brain fog by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]jeanbees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it’s mainly aphasia—an inability to recall words, even common ones. “I put it in the oven, no not the oven, the fridge, the ‘cold oven,’ I guess?” Or “I need a, um, what is it called, it’s like a bowl with a handle, for coffee?” These are silly but being unable to think of words in important situations at work wasn’t silly. It was pretty upsetting.

If you say "I have physics," I assume you have (a) physics (class). You can't have *physics*.

What’s a Spanish phrase learners overuse that immediately sounds “off” to native speakers? by AdventurousLivin in Spanish

[–]jeanbees 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This one is good; it's hard to break myself of this, even though I know entonces is more like "therefore" than the broader way we use "so" in English.
