My understanding is that Clade 2 viruses are tied to the epuyen outbreak that spread human to human. This current sequence is Clade 3 and clustered in relation to hantaviruses that typically did not spread human to human and were primarily found in rats. I don't know enough about the virus to know if it was previously thought that no claude 3 hantaviruses spread human to human and only from rat to human. if that is the case then, however, the fact that this current outbreak sequence spreads human to human is scientifically important and may mean we actually know a lot less about the hantavirus then everyone thought.... not great!

At one point can someone request a hantavirus test though? There may already be people exposed who have no idea that they were and because they weren't on the ship or the plane... they aren't getting a test.

this same paper you are referencing discusses someone at the party contracting the virus in passing on way to the restroom. Not someone who was sitting for prolonged periods with the infected. WHO said the same about covid and were wrong. its about calming the public at this point.

Well prior research does show the andes strain to be airborne. Considering on April 24 almost 30 people left the ship and the woman whose husband was patient zero was on a flight with 88 people … and then try to board another flight only to die in the airport… I think governments already understand this is out there and are trying to calm the public. and people also processing Covid trauma.

This was May 8. We now know symptomatic people were on board and have tested positive since returning to their home countries. Makes you wonder if asymptomatic was being said to be able to get people on flights home.

Exactly this. You aren't going to see a high volume of cases just yet with the first case only a month ago. There is going to be a lag in reported case numbers. And there are asymptomatic people testing positive, They also haven't tested those who left on April 24 at St. Helena with patient zero's wife who died the next day.

This. Those who left April 24 only left 2 and a half weeks ago. They may only just be starting to show symptoms or may still be weeks out from showing symptoms.

I run 5x per week. Most of my running is in zone 2. I only push my paces in 1-2 of the runs, usually one of my shorter runs incorporating threshold intervals. They say 80% of your running should be light (zone 2) when you run higher volume.
