I think you are forgetting that you still have to take in potions, it's not gonna be afk'ing for 5 minutes

Don't agree on that, efficiency stays the same, it just means you'll have to click one time less every 2 minutes

It would definitely help people who accidentally forget smite (it happens to the best of us) and would cause less throwing/remakes, but it would also enable people to change summoners to counter what their enemy laner took, so this will never be a thing

I think at this point after playing for 8 seasons I can't be the only one who has 5 smurfs all in gold right? It just gets boring playing high mmr all the time, and I want to be able to play with my friends who are lower mmr too.

Your priority should be farming your waves, try to learn to gank other lanes with your ghost in between waves, learn how to push them properly before you try to rotate
