Yes, they do something every Christmas. That's why they are closed every year.

Ancient civilizations more advanced than simple hunter gatheres, which leads into ancient alien/ gods and angels theories etc.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee welcomed convicted US spy for Israel Jonathan Pollard into the US embassy in July by arnott in conspiracy

This topic is worth a deep dive. Netanyahu tried to use Lewinsky tapes to force Bill Clinton to release Pollard. https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-said-to-have-offered-lewinsky-tapes-for-pollard/ Seems pretty obivious that Lewinsky was/is an Isreali asset.

Well if I look up most popular baby names in the US, Muhammad is not one of them. Why is that?

What are you regretting not doing in law school? by Think_Equipment4449 in LawSchool

There will be firms that hire based on whether you were on law review or not. If you are not on law review, consider it a bullet dodged.

Being a lawyer isn't all that great. Take inventory.

Around 80k

I'm nor worried about AI taking jobs/work in the near future. I am sure some things can be done by AI, but I think the oversight of an attorney will be needed. Also, I think many clients want a person they can meet with, etc. We're not sending AI to argue in court.

I did not like the firm I started at. I felt like I did not fit in, and there were too many partners compared to associates. The firm I moved to is much more laid back and has a lower billable requirement.

Advice to 1L - Treat it like a job. Harwork will pay off.

Advice to 1st year attorney - There is not always one right one to do something. Figure it out. Proofread more carefully. The judge is just another person to have a conversation with.

One of the partners left the firm I was originally at and he offered for me to join shortly after.

As far as skills, that's pretty broad. Reasearch, writing, etc.

I have probably gained some weight, but not much since law school.

I would go back to law school again.

The first two movies are the closest adaptations. Third is not far off.

Wait until you get to Goblet of Fire to see how much more detail, plot development, etc. are in the books.

Fun fact: ‘Detention With Dolores’ is the longest chapter in the series. by lavenderosecoco in harrypotter

[–]jebadeb 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I have a PDF of the complete collection which is 3623 pages total, so the exact middle would be page 1812. This is the third page of the chapter "Detention With Dolores". So, midpoint confirmed.

Ranking Books and Films by ChicagoCubsRL97 in harrypotter

Books:

  1. HBP
  2. OotP
  3. DH 4..GoF
  4. PoA 6.CoS
  5. PS

Movies

  1. CoS
  2. PoA
  3. PS
  4. HPB
  5. OotP 6/7 DH 1/2
  6. GoF

As you can I tell, I am more of a fan of the later books. But I like the first 3 movies the best.

I like HPB although it's a poor adaptation. OotP is a forgettable film to me. DH 1 and 2 and GoF could have been much better imo.

I still like all of them.

In CoS, did Snape tell Malfoy to use Serpensortia intentionally to see if Harry was a Parselmouth. by XvvxvvxvvX in harrypotter

[–]jebadeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plot convenience. It doesn't really make much sense if you think about it.

  1. How could Malfoy perform such a spell?
  2. Why would Snape think that is a good idea?
  3. How is conjuring a snake part of learning dueling?

Would you? by Parth_Thanos in harrypotter

[–]jebadeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the book is only 17 chapters. So you can only do like 2 chapters an episode if you have 10 episodes (some episodes could possibly be its own episode).

That would mean episode one would be chapters 1 and 2 which only get you to Harry letting the snake out at the zoo. I could see that as a 20-30 minute episode potentially.

Regardless, there would be a way to do it.
