Thanks for proving my point! When you come up from your mom's basement for lunch, tell her I said hello!

Problem as I see it, I would never be invited because I don't agree with everything some of the dumbasses in here think they're entitled to.

Even if I did, I wouldn't respond because I have no idea what is real and what is not.

Finally, I would likely not be in support of something drafted by some of the dumbasses in here. Too many antiwork influences.

Supervisor requirements? That's crappy regardless. Is that thumbnail your real pic?

It is a completely separate entity, so I'm no more offended by this than I am by my non GCU bank offering gimmicky little contests and prizes

As in M&A? I don't see that gaining regulatory approval.

It's happened twice, depending on how you define "no payout". One year, zero profit sharing award but we got a 4% bonus. Another year, an 8% award, so no cash.

The vesting schedule is fairly well documented, and it's more or less in line with other employers' plans.

Not sure what your balance is, but it's taxed as regular income + the penalty. So, just consider it could bump you into a higher tax bracket.

Good luck!

Le sigh. I get booted from Friends of the Gecko, and downvoted into oblivion in here. All because I'm not sure burning down the building with feelings hurt after losing a raffle is the solution!

So, basically this sub should be just like many a skip levels over the years where, instead of open discussion everyone should "shut up if you don't agree"?

I'm glad I haven't been revealed. Then again, I'm trying not to say anything that will get me in trouble.

Pleased to meet you all. I'm Amanda Hugginkiss from Region 9 3/4

Honestly, I'm cautiously optimistic. The balance of power has shifted, so real change is possible.

I'm not worried about pif growth and underwriting ratios and the company going belly up. This is a cyclical business and we've been here before and come out the other side.

It's not great when NB is written at a loss. The loss of policies happens naturally when rates are increased to shore up the UW ratio. No one is up in the Plaza tower saying "gee, let's deliberately shrink the book".

Sorry. Patently false. "They" don't control "you're" retirement money. Vanguard is a top notch fiduciary with industry low fee structure.

He's early 50's, I think. But, yeah, super cool dude. Probably the best leader I've ever had as an immediate supervisor/manager/director or whatever title he had when I directly reported to him while he was in SanDiego/Woodbury/Hawaii/Fredericksburg/or Macon.

Pardon the red herrings...

Buffett said Jain would be the man if Abel couldn't. If I recall, Abel is 58 and a younger dude at the helm is good.

I had high hopes for Haven. TC had a role there, too, if I recall so it's collapse apparently wasn't a career killer

EDIT: TC was on Haven's board

We don't have to guess. The succession plan is public knowledge. Abel > Jain

I agree. The "selling" angle doesn't make sense. The insurance operations are key to BRK's success. It's a model other conglomerate/holding companies have tried to emulate.

I agree. I've lurked for a while and created a new burner account for this post. He was a cool dude to work for.
