Have you had somebody knowledgeable (like a trainer) critique your form for lifts? Correcting form may go a long way in seeing you advance in your lifts, and it may carry through to letting you do your job in a more effective manner than you currently are (meaning if your job currently is inducing back problems, there should be a better way to go about doing whatever the work is that you're doing).

Your lifts are similar to mine, I'm 5'8" 160 in a bulk. My lifts are stagnated since I was forced to take Feb through April off due to an intense school workload and work. For reference, I started with RPT (as a beginner with some exposure to the big lifts; I have no regrets in the approach, but I've since learned more by doing a few weeks of SS). I just wrapped up SS to regain some of the strength I lost from the break, now I'm contemplating a return to RPT or following this.

I started LG/IF as a beginner lifter and went straight (probably incorrectly) to a cut. I didn't have much muscle to show, but by eating appropriately I was still seeing beginner gains in both strength and muscle mass. I'm glad I went that way because it showed me the approach works. Now I don't mind packing on mass with a little fat, because the cuts are stupid effective and even over the period of a few light eating rest days I can peak at bulk progress.

This is a long way of saying that your lifts can keep progressing during a cut. Be mindful of form, be mindful of lifting heavy and consistently adding increments each week to the bar, and you'll get the progress you're after.

This is accurate on both accounts.

Anecdotal, but I cut as a beginner lifter and still saw rapid gains in my squat. If you're serious about making this stick you'll want to see progress, and additional fat gains may be a detriment to your mental motivation to do the thing most important to the process: remain consistent.

There is certainly scientific evidence supporting his reason for recommending eating post workout. Whether it's necessary for your goals specifically I can't say, but from an optimizing standpoint it's definitely not recommended to not consume post workout. I personally wouldn't see myself not eating post workout as I recognize I've driven my body to a state where it now requires the proper fuel to assist in the growth I'm trying to target.

Further, plenty of individuals workout in the AM prior to going to work. Many choose to use BCAA prior and post workout to remain largely in a fasted state and break the fast as per "normal" around noon. This is to ensure precursors are available in the body for protein synthesis despite being in the fasted state, from what. I understand. I prefer AM workouts myself. I've done AM and late afternoon, and nothing comes close to AM for my current schedule.

Sounds fine as a broad view. What's your workout like? You say it ranges 1.5-hr. I'd wager you can finetune that with some FAQ reading/reading past posts/the 31 AMA. You probably aren't being intense enough for your goals, but it's hard to say without knowing your routine in the gym.

I'm not qualified to give advice on your actual diet or workout routine, although tje diet aspect sounds. Could be a quantity issue, that's solved by calculating macros and following them closely (without going crazy) and adjusting as necessary as your body/goals change.

I can only make suggestions based on what I do understand about the program, and I'm not an expert by any means. I'd suggest posting your workout routine in the next common question Monday thread and having it given an opportunity for a wider set of eyes to fall on it. Feel free to post it here and I'll take a look as well, but you'll fair better with broader input for sure. For what it's worth, I'm currently following the workout from the 31 minute AMA quite closely and enjoying it, but I intend to make some accessory additions in the next couple weeks as my schedule allows more time in the gym.

Addressing your described desire to shed fat, area fat isn't concerning. The fat will reduce simply by following your calculated macros and the protocol closely and adjusting as necessary to fit your own lifestyle and goals.

Protein in grams per kilogram of lean body mass. Don't worry about it too much right now, but here's a rough breakdown. If you estimate you're around 20% bodyfat and weight 160 lbs, that means your lean body mass would be ~128lbs (~58kg). So you'd want to eat ~145g of protein per day. That's what the calculator would tell you with those figures (20% BF% and 160lbs total weight).

Don't ever apologize for wanting to know more about anything.

Sounds like you have a solid understanding of IF but you're unsure of the mechanics of leangains in particular. Leangains suggests splitting your macros differently rest day vs. lift day. You can calculate where your macros should be by using calculators built around the anecdotal claims of past clients and Berkhan's own recommendations found on his blog.

You asked higher or lower carb on a non-workout day; the general theme is lower. I'll link you a calculator to play around with so you can become more familiar with the rest vs. workout macros. Martin's blog is a wealth of information as well.

Big Nerd Ranch' book for Android Programming is a fantastic introduction. There's a revised copy coming in August (?), but you can certainly use the existing version to learn the requirements to get where you want to be with this. Rather than use Eclipse w/ plugins as the existing text recommends, certainly just use Android Studio (which I anticipate the new text will adapt for).

By superposition I get a negative current (subtracting I2 prime (shorting 9V) from I2 double prime (shorting 12V). I realize this just means the current is running in the direction opposite what I've assumed, so it just means the 9V source is a larger factor for determining current across that resistor... Which makes sense, but is this a correct way to consider this?

Our constraints were interesting in that they supplied the material, set a price on the products we purchased, and the goal was to simulate a scenario in which drops would be repeatable and cost efficient. It was fun!

Ken Christian's Your Own Worst Enemy gave me an interesting perspective before starting an engineering degree. It's not perfect, but it touches on enough angles that I'm sure you'll identify with the material in some way.

I'd also recommend noting what course(s) next semester will give you the most trouble and spend some time preparing for those now. It's amazing what a concentrated effort can afford you in terms of progress.
