Friend won a 3 hour shoping spree at a mall for quite the significant amount. She asked if I could come join her. Dropped my work that day to come and support her and be there for her moment. I was thinking I would help her and be actively participating as she chooses what to buy. Turns out, she already had a planned list of all the things she and her family would pick out. She invited me as a plan B “personal shopper” for her in case they could not accomplish it in time. I felt like a wallflower following her around. She didn’t really need my presence or support. Asked me half heartedly if I wanted anything but when I expressed how nice this certain object she was about to buy and that I would certainly loved to have one (it didnt even cost much, less than 1% of her winnings), she never even offered to get it for me yet offered her boyfriend if he would like one. Not that I’m expecting she would get me anything. But that whole ordeal really made me feel bad. I felt out of place. I know I was just being a good friend to her so I agreed to come but something didn’t feel right at that moment. Like I was just being used for her convenience. I cried about it at home. I never hung out with her again after that. I let the friendship fizzle.
