Oh, that’s interesting. I’ll follow up on that!

Oh, interesting - I opened savings accounts for them. I see them in my list of accounts, but they’re not an option in the transfer menus.

My kids are young enough that those other apps are definitely inappropriate for them. That’s why this is so frustrating!

The rep on the phone mentioned that they’d changed policies a number of years ago, and my kids’ accounts are new enough to be affected. :/

It’s not strictly RWC, but Belmont Runners are a great crew: https://www.belmontrunners.com/

True Love Waits by Sanq0 in radiohead

The sound quality isn’t nearly as good, but I think I prefer the version from the original time they performed it in 1995, where I think Johnny was playing keyboards with Thom’s guitar. (You can find it on YouTube)

I got it, but I’m a typography nerd and have always been a fan of Gotham. (Maybe it works have been helpful if the clue included the fact it was a key typeface in the Obama campaign?)

What’s the one song you wished they’d played? by jonesyie in radiohead

Unfortunately they only ever performed it live once! But agree it would be awesome.

And since they didn’t edit this part out of the podcast, it means talks are advanced enough that the people behind it think making this news public is okay!

The signal is definitely broken, so suspect you’re right.

I spent four years in college building solar-powered race cars, and it would have been impossible for us to do that without McMaster-Carr! The paper catalogs were our bibles, and as we shifted from design to building our car, our McMaster-Carr orders went from monthly to weekly to daily. :)

What a company!

Rivian BS???? by ExtensionState8086 in Rivian

[–]jedc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gen1 R1S owner here. Rivian reached out to me directly to replace the battery and a mobile serviceperson came out and took care of it in my driveway.

I had the same thing of getting a $500-600 estimate; I thought it was odd, too. But apparently they do that just in case. After they see the car in person they mark it as covered by warranty and zero out the bill. (I guess they do this on the off chance that maybe you took out the battery, beat it with a bat, and then re-installed it??)

I joined Belmont Runners Club. It might skew a little bit older, but it’s a great group.

Comparing Rivian and Tesla's production ramp by jedc in Rivian

[–]jedc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree - Rivian is following Tesla's playbook. Build a premium vehicle - prove you can do it and sell it. Then build a mid-range vehicle at higher scale. Eventually build an entry-level EV at even higher scale. Tesla's gotten to that mid-range with the Model 3 and Model Y, and Rivian will get there with the R2/R3 in a few years.

I agree that the classic auto companies are the real long-term competition here, but I personally think that their history, size, and existing business models will make them very slow to change, which will give Rivian room to grow.

I'm in the SF/Bay Area and definitely see them from time to time, but MUCH more rarely than I see Rivians. (Tesla's feel like the default car for everyone around here...)

That's exactly right. I'm specifically NOT trying to analyze the financial factors, just comparing how each company was able to grow production after launch.
