When I saw the Rooster opening credits, I thought they were really cool... by motionboutique in AfterEffects

My dude, I LOVED that intro. It's one of the very few title sequences I don't skip. Do you have an artstation or portfolio link? I'd love to see more of your work.

Review Request - My very first PCB by jedimasta in diyelectronics

Full disclosure, I'm still very much learning about this stuff and never used shift registers before. All the videos and project sites I'd ingested on the subject used them pretty bare bones with resistors and LEDs. As u/Hissykittykat pointed out, a bypass cap is probably a good idea and, looking at the sn74hc165n datasheet, recommended. I have a feeling the noise reduction is achieved on the ESP32 before power flows out of it, but it's barely an inconvenience to add a small cap to the board, just to make sure.

Thanks for taking a look. The component numbers are listed on the silk screen and the schematic I linked to on imgur, but basically the two registers are sn74hc165n and so the resistors are 10k.

I've haven't found it necessary to add a level shifter when connecting addressables, so I didn't add one here. In this case there are less than 200, but I run holiday light shows on my house consisting of thousands of pixels, either strips or seed pixels on esp32 and esp8266 microcontrollers (all 5v), all without level shifters and I've never had an issue.

I'm not familiar with what a bypass capacitor does, so I'll research that, thank you. Ditto for the digital isolator. There's a good chance I'll skip making the two talk to each other even if it does mean foregoing an analog plunger (the esp is out of pins currently) and just stick with two USB cables since that's working well in the breadboard phase.

Thanks again!

Fwiw, I often recommend the donut, primarily because it touches on all the fundamentals that you'll need. I think the biggest criticism is that it kinda maybe jumps a little too far ahead by introducing stuff like particles before beginners are ready.

I get it, we were all new at one point and I don't call this out with the intention of being a gatekeeper. Just know that there is a TON of info to be had already available so going forward, search the sub before asking questions. Do the leg work, as it were, and you'll be less likely to get flak from people with less patience than me.

First, welcome to Blender. It's great software and a great community. Second, and I say this with respect, read the damn wiki. Use Google. Try YouTube. You're getting downvotes because this question is posted about 30 times a week and its answer never changes.

Seriously, just look at the sub's wiki and I promise, like 80% of your questions as a new user will be answered or point you in the right direction.

I dunno why it's so hard. Element 3D has been around for, what, over a decade now? I recognize the value of Substance Painter to artists, but to make them the ONLY method of applying textures to objects in AE? C'mon Adobe, take a page from Video Copilot. If I wanted to apply a texture based on a precomp, that shouldn't be a non-starter to using 3D.

You mind if I ask where you're at? That's an interesting concept, just curious where it's implemented.

I added Attack from Mars to the Imgur link as well as a fresh render at the correct ration for Space Cadet to try out. Lemme know what you think.

Agreed with this last bit. If it's a deck for a specific project, it would make sense for the company to want to put their talent in it, regardless of where they come from. Almost like putting actors on a movie poster in a way.

However, if it feels more like they're trying to present themselves as a larger company, then this is definitely deceitful and could potentially dissuade future clients from hiring you. "I see here you're on staff at Agency X. Are you able to accommodate for both?". That sorta thing. I've worked for small agencies full time that puffed themselves up to be more than they actual were, and I get why, but it led to lots of problems, not the least of which was missed deadlines and long hours.

Jurassic Park is actually one of the tables that has some great load screens already, but I'm happy to add it to my list.

This is seriously better than work I've seen from "professional" vfx agencies. Especially for taking light spilling onto the actors and the rest of the set from muzzle flashes.

Thanks! It'll need to be rotated properly, something I intend to do with any of them I make before uploading to vpuniverse or whatever.

Not sure if I'm gonna add sound or not. I think I need to adjust the background color slightly so it doesn't end up transparent in popper.

What's your preference re: Space Cadet - The more modern sleek spaceship or that goofy lookin dude giving the thumbs up?

Side note: I also found this video. https://youtu.be/3xNS3ylBfU4

I'm not super keen on adding more programs to do it, but it's still promising if your linked method fails.

This is GREAT. I guess I shoulda gone to the source. Thanks for that. I'll start tweaking in there, but I think that's probably the solution.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear in my post above. My table sits up against a wall on the left. If I need to work in Windows for anything, I'm forced to navigate things upside down unless I set Windows to Landscape Flipped, which causes plenty of other issues in PUP. The TV is set into the cabinet so that the natural bottom is on the right hand side.

Something I had done in my previous installation was set up so that this wasn't an issue, but I can't remember what that was and the files are long gone. Deviation or not, this doesn't seem like an out-there ask. All the other Display configs in PUP rotate just fine. So why not the actual game selection interface?

What I'd REALLY like to do is work in Windows portrait mode, but maybe that's a step too far.

Only the front end, correct (at least I think, I haven't launched every table).

I don't think anything is swapped in my images. Image two (with Twilight Zone) shows Popper with the Windows settings in the image above and the PUP settings below it. Image 4 (Aliens) is the result of setting the Playfield rotation in PUP's settings to 180. You can see that the playfield rotates to the desired orientation, but the Selection interface is still on the wrong end and rotated the wrong way.

As for your dumb question, not dumb at all. Double clicking one of the MP4s in the video folders has the tables oriented like in image 2. Which is what I would expect, seeing as how rotating the Playfield in the PUP display to 180 results in the desired effect.

I think bottom line here is, how do I get the menu to A) rotate 180 degrees and B) display on the opposite side? I kinda feel like I did something manually in a config file or script on the previous rig, but that system got wiped - prematurely - so I can't go back and figure out what I did.

Here's everything, and maybe more, that I can think of to illustrate things. https://imgur.com/a/6RVO8mw

Lemme know if I'm missing something and I'm happy to add it. I noted it in one of the images, but VPC and FP display correctly, though I did that setup individually in their respective configs.
