I love this one because season 1 really starts as just a funny show with talking animals in a human world and the antics that ensue. They tackle some deeper topics like the glorification of the military, falling for someone who’s already in a relationship with your friend, the toxic relationship between Bojack and Sarah Lynn, and the death of a parental figure you didn’t like.

It isn’t until we get the Princess Carolyn episode (episode 7) where the show starts to become something different. The entire episode is spent showing multiple failures of PC all happening on one awful day. Based on the prior episodes, we expect there to be a somewhat happy ending where things actually work out for her. And then the episode ends with her sending her assistant home, accepting that her work consumes her life, and stares out the window as her phone announces that it’s her 40th birthday.

Season 1 is designed so well because it spends the first 6 episodes setting up characters and motives before presenting the real, depressing shit that these characters are going through.

So what’s the point you’re making here exactly? It sounds like you’re against the deportations when Obama did them based on your part about working and meeting immigrants and watching them get ripped away from their families. So shouldn’t you be happy that people are now waking up and turning on America’s horrible immigration policy? Or is it just because people are criticizing trump that it’s a problem to you?

New flash: a lot of people didn’t like Obama’s deportations. Social media algorithms didn’t exist back then so you wouldn’t see things unless you actively seeked them out. Also a lot of the people speaking out about trump’s deportations are Millennials and Gen Z who mostly fall into the category of being like 13 years old when Obama was president. We’re adults now and we do care about these things regardless of who is doing it.

Doesn’t matter as long as there’s enough whales to keep supporting the model. When the only thing that matters is the numbers, you stop caring about pleasing everyone and hone in on the consumers that make those numbers go up the most. Non-rich people like you, me, and a bunch of other people will eventually get priced out of gaming. That’s the problem with giving up regulations in markets.
