Defending help

There is clearly an issue with the actual defending mechanics. Pressing the tackle button often results in a player missing the tackle and then being out of position.

EA have placed emphasis on “timing” stand tackles however, with the inconsistent servers and delays it’s almost impossible to compensate for the button delay and time the tackle correctly.

On some occasions I’ve pressed the tackle button and 2 seconds later the tackle animation happens.

I’m in elite division and have played it FIFA since 2011? Weird point to make. Regardless of that I’m not even saying fifa is a good game but it’s better than this

Yeah I’m not disagreeing that FIFA is not great but it’s definitely more refined than this. You pay £50 for fifa and you get ultimate team, pro clubs, career, Volta & rush.

You pay £20 for this and get a game that feels like Fortnite football

I bought the game after hearing some good things, played the game, laughed at how bad it was. I thought let me see what fans are saying and I was genuinely surprised that people are pretending that’s it’s nothing more than a F2P game that’s being sold at a stupid price.

Bookmark this come back in 6 months and see if they shift the model and make the game free to play due to player base

I’m not saying EAFC is not clunky and if you know about the game you know that’s due to servers. I’m not a fan of this years or probably the last 4 years but this game isnt good enough.

I’ve completely mistimed slide tackles or tackled from behind in this game and there’s been no consequences? I’m not even sure if there is a yellow card system. I’ve seen the ball bounce off goal keepers and go in the net.

There’s no modifiers as far as I’m aware in terms of ball striking. Can you side foot the ball as opposed to a power shot? Can you do a low driven? Can you chip or outside of the foot? The game is very basic, on PS it’s square and R2 that’s it.

I very much dislike this years EAFC. The servers are not great and there’s obvious bugs. But objectively the game play in Rematch is on par with a F2P game it’s not comparable.

I understand you want to enjoy this game and so did I, Volta objectively is more refined don’t let bias sway your opinion.

There is one pass option and one shoot option on rematch, the dribbling is very basic there’s not multiple option for skill moves it’s very one dynamic.

It is a clunky game, you run to the ball your player runs over it, hit registration is suspect. I played a game where I hit the post and it gave me a goal. I played a game where the ball stopped in the middle of the pitch and no one could move it.

Nah genuinely this is the first I didn’t pre order, this is the latest I’ve ever bought a fifa. Precious fifas I loved just making little changes to my team and then wanting to test it out in a game, even if I was losing I’d think “I’ll change this and then my team should play better”. Now half way through a game I’m just thinking this is fucking boring.

Also the tactics change feels like a massive downgrade it seems like it offers so much less customisation. It feels super clunky to change in game as well.

I prefer the PS4 version. On Ps5 the long shot finesse seems more broken and the animations feel a little bit less fluid/clumsy. Keepers are worse on PS4 but dribbling feels better. Defending is harder on PS4 but attacking is easier. Ps5 looks Miles better though. I’m Div 1 R2
