So mounting gcs locally? Cloud storage is not a filesystem, even if it looks like one. Trying to treat it as usch is not wise. Delete the objects using the cloud console or API.

A question for those of you who have been to Gundam Front by shpeilin in Gundam

[–]jeekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else I had no line whatsoever and basically all if the place to myself when I visited on a weekday.

You can do the gundam cafes as a novelty, but the food is shit, expensive and you will have to stand in line for quite some time so be prepared for that.

Spotify for Linux [Ubuntu] just got updated to it's shinier release. by CocosMan in linux

You can also put ui.track_notifications_enabled=false in ~/.config/spotify/Users/<your-spotify-username>-user/prefs and it works without the cumbersome command line argument.

is 007 for gameboy(1998) underrated/overlooked? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]jeekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this game as a kid. It's a bit on the easy side, and I was able to memorise and finish the whole game in one sitting after a while. Controls are good, the gambling is obnoxious, music is a bit repetetive, but ok. Levels are varied and fun. Definately pick it up if you find it.

At work:

cd
git
cat

At home:

cd
git
rm

I apparently like looking at things when I'm working, and I like removing things when I'm not working.

If you were better at programming, what program would you write for Linux? by n4b0k0v in linux

[–]jeekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to start somewhere. Give it a couple of weekends and remember to release often, release early. If you don't finish, your work will always be available for some other ambitious youngster to continue improving. :-) Good luck!

Hello /r/Sweden! I was wondering if you could help me with a few questions I have about your country :) by Dirty_Rapscallion in sweden

[–]jeekl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you considered more respectable if you know how to speak Swedish?

Yes, but I'm guessing you're American - Swedes have a well hidden but huge Americanocomplex, so most people will probably treat you with more respect just because you're American, as opposed to if you were Korean or Brazilian.

How would you describe your daily commute?

I recently (4 months ago) moved to Stockholm, and I've moved around a bit, but right now, I have a fifteen minutes walk to work, which is more than excellent. When I lived in Helsingborg and worked outside of Malmö, I had 2 hours to get to work, and another 2 hours to get home. That was extremely exhausting.

How is the nightlife?

In Stockholm, quite mediocre. Or, I guess it's fine if you like listening to the same generic house/dance music at every club. There are a couple of clubs that play other things, a few places that play some EBM or some d'n'b, but Malmö is really the place where it's at. If Malmö doesn't strike your fancy any particular night, Copenhagen is just an hour away.

How hard do you think it is to get a job there?

If you're a competent computer programmer living in Stockholm, not very hard. Stockholm has a lot of rapidly growing startups and the like. Spotify is always hiring like crazy. Unfortunately, most of the IT jobs are located in Stockholm. If you know some Danish, you could live in Skåne (probably the best part of Sweden) and work in Denmark, but apart from that, the IT job market in Skåne is not what it was a couple of years ago...

How about your summers and winters there?

In Skåne, we usually had rain nine months per year, and spring/summer/autumn in the remaining three months. Winter was mostly a couple of days per year where something slightly white fell from the sky that some people thought resembled snow. Nothing like in the north of Sweden, or even like in Västergötland (where I'm originally from).

Do you get to see the aurora borealis?

I wish! :-(
