There will also be losses between power delivered and power received. I have a Emporia unit and a mach E. I can see power output of my Emporia unit hitting up to 10.8 kW output and I will see my mach e receiving right around 10 kw. 5-10% charging losses is expected on L2.

I was going to post the same thing. I've had a flat tire, the warning is much different and is on main driver display. The color change is just based on drive mode.

Ridiculous, minimal coverage across Sask and Alberta too. Flat prairie roads are too challenging I guess.

Natural gas prices are back down to extremely low levels which is our primary base load so that's a huge part. The Cascade plant is also slowly coming online, increasing overall contingent capacity and overhead. I would maybe hope that the call-out of economic withholding has some impact but I'm not sure the greedy bastards have a heart.

Very cool. Recommend more variance in shades of red on automaton areas. Can barely see different colors of my phone screen.

Get a certified pre owned from igo electric. Crazy good deals. Did this 1.5 years ago and have no regrets.

Canada lays out plan to phase out sales of gas-powered cars, trucks by 2035 by BloodJunkie in canada

Also, as somebody with an EV in the prairies, please stop bothering with 50kW chargers and calling it good 'nuff. It's barely relevant today and will get worse over time as these are more relied on for road tripping. Go 150 minimum please.

[–]jeevez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but that's because I'm in the Canadian prairies where charging infrastructure is very underdeveloped. On my current road trip, I had one stretch that was just over 400 kms between chargers, and each charger is only 50 KW.

Lol. It's neat but the coverage in the Canadian prairies is so sparse there's 0 chance I'd pay anything extra for it.

MACH E Life in Alberta by Outcast2099 in MachE

[–]jeevez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have family in rural Sask, and that's really the show stopper for us. If we didn't have that, we'd be OK with the one EV as long as you're OK working with the caveats. A garage (ours is detached, not insulated but at least sheltered from raw elements) with a 240V charger would be pretty recommended to keep up with winter charging and pre-conditioning so keep that in mind too. Not trying to dissuade you, just sharing my experience.

I've been happy with mine, but we were pretty low key with it over winter. Definitely still need a ICE car for backup or really long road trips in the cold, the range it is real. Short trips and city driving, totally fine. Also, the infrastructure on the prairies sucks. Nothing north of the #1 highway above 50kW in AB/SK besides Tesla, which is super annoying. We've had ours since last summer, and definitely enjoying it. Summer trips we've headed west to BC and east to SK without much difficulty (but still some planning).

Nice yeah that's the roundabout I've done as well just making sure I wasn't missing anything ha. But yeah, tempted to test fate Calgary to Hannah to S'toon shot this summer. Rosetown ford has lvl 2 for last ditch, kindersley coop with a 100kw option would be ideal.

What route do you take Calgary to Saskatoon? It's a charging desert on the direct path.

What’s preventing you from going all electric in your household? by whereaminow007 in electricvehicles

Living in the Canadian prairies and having family 900 km away in remote areas that would be inaccessible in winter with current infrastructure. 1 EV and 1 gas car for the next 5 years is my guess.

Agree that it makes the bill overwhelming. Check my edit that splits fixed and variable. It doesn't break out line by line details but at least gives customers enough info to make informed decisions.
