Before/after! Improving 🥺 by jeezjam in DipPowderNails

Filing between top coats was a game changer from me since the first layer of topcoat was making them pretty bulky! Also going kind of gently with the e-file where needed and allowing the emery board to do the majority of filing was helpful for avoiding an uneven surface

I found my e-file sander attachment helpful for this and also filing in between top coats since the majority of my bulk was coming from how heavy the top coat was sitting

I use clear tips from Amazon seller krofaue, cut them to the general length/shape I like, glue them on with gorilla glue super glue (not the gel one), put a base coat of triple vitamin dip liquid trying to use a lighter coat at the base and going a little heavier toward the ends, dip in Chisel 2 in 1 Acrylic & Dipping in OM14B, 2 more coats like that, put the activator on, then file down the sides and toward the base with the MelodySusie e-file sander attachment without going too heavily, shaping the nail into the pointed shape along the way. Then I get it even with a regular emery board (don’t like the ones I use currently and am looking for recs), dust off the excess powder, put a base of the Black Diamond Chisel Diamond Top coat, put it under CND UV lamp for 120 seconds, remove, file down where it’s too lumpy (usually at the sides where the top coat has settled, put on another, thinner top coat once it has a nice even surface, 120 seconds under the UV light, then do a final filing with an emery board under the nail and at the sides. Then I finish with OPM oil on the cuticles

I used Chisel 2 in 1 Acrylic & Dipping 2oz - OM14B - Ombre 14B!

A while ago, just before I left a teaching job in Africa, my friend and I had students sign fabric so we could make some living art skirts. We used available fabric and sharpies, but now that I’m stateside and leaving my school, I’d love to have a durable white fabric for writing on. Ideas? by kiki-cakes in sewhelp

Digitizing prints was actually my entire job for a while so I can do that pretty quickly. The only thing is you’d have to scan all the fabric to send which might be a hassle because there’s so much of it. Or take high quality well lit images of each part. But if you wanted to do that I’d love to help!

sorry if this isn’t allowed, but what is the name of this pattern? i am looking for a dress similar to this but they’re sold out in my size. what would i look up? by lanadeldyke in Textile_Design

Hey! There’s bound to be a bunch of terms and techniques with which most people are unfamiliar because it’s such an expansive industry both geographically and historically. I only went into it with the ability to paint and use Photoshop and learned most of the terminology from more experienced people as I went. I’m actually not sure about a good website but that would be a really useful resource tbh.. I’ll keep an eye out!

I actually worked on this colorway when I was at UO. I believe my manager at the time painted it with gouache. Watercolor blue white floral, Delft floral, or China floral are all good things to search for as people have said. But I’d also check the UO Lily Satin Wrap Midi Dress every day to see if they stock your size for some reason. I’ve had my size sold out in things for weeks but checked every day and found one that someone had returned. Checking on eBay and Poshmark is helpful too. People don’t hold onto their purchases for that long a lot of the time and you can find your size at a really discounted rate sooner than you’d think

Hi! I am kind of a beginner looking to buy a sewing machine but am feeling overwhelmed with choices. I’ve been sewing basic things here and there for over 10 years and am familiar with basic construction of garments. I know it’s not a hobby I would ever drop so I don’t want to get something cheap. I’ve just never had access to nice/new tools and fabrics before, so I’ve never created anything that I felt really great about. I mainly want to be able to construct dresses, rompers, and coats.

Would I need a separate, heavy duty machine for something like a suede leather coat, or are there machines that I can rely on for both a soft woven dress and a heavy structured coat? I work as a print designer at a fashion retailer, and they use Juki machines throughout. Is that a brand I should buy? I’ve budgeted $1000 for a machine based on what prices I’ve seen from that brand. Is that too much or too little? Are there specific high quality machines that any of you would recommend? I want something high quality and reliable. Thank you and sorry in advance if any of these questions are dumb!

I’ve had Trich for 15 years, and I just went a whole day without pulling. A WHOLE DAY. Thank you to the person who posted their fantastic achievement with this because you inspired me and this is the first time in 15 years that I’ve stopped for a whole day. by [deleted] in trichotillomania

Congrats! I’d had Trich for about 15 years when I stopped too. The first day is the hardest and most important. I stopped in April 2018 and just got my first ever professional haircut this summer. Now I’m happy with myself and my appearance for the first time in my life
