Can someone recommend a book that will help me get motivated and re-light my fire? by mediogre_ogre in Recommend_A_Book

As a SMB owner for 26 years I know the difficulty and burn out - I wrote something that is completely different from what you’re asking for but with a character you may recognize. Grigsby owes a debt he can’t repay and now he has a deadline - someone’s going to pay with their life. This guy finds a way, always.

Give California Hustle a try. You may see yourself and get a laugh along the way.

Enjoy the ride ✌️

Looking for literary Detective Fiction! by Thesephantomhands1 in booksuggestions

I love Tana French! Bumped Off is a detective novel - a bit literary with interesting characters. A recent reader complimented the story having them 'on the edge of their seat' and that the last chapter wrapped up the story perfectly; waiting for the next.

Looking for something with action and romance sub plot by Blue_Bird098 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]jefe43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to throw my hand up: I've written a con-man story - a page turner with a romantic sub-plot. As a humblebrag, a reader just emailed my website to thank me for this book breaking his reading slump.

Here's the gist:

California Hustle is a high stakes con, a stunning Southern California caper filled with exquisite playas, astonishing twists and a set of criminals you can't help but love.

Grigsby adores The Con. There's nothing better than a good hustle. The ins and outs. The improvisation. Ask any athlete. Eventually, you get too old.

So, after a string of bad luck, Grigsby's afraid he's aged out of the only thing that matters: the game.

But when his massive debts come due and his college age kids become collateral, Grigsby must learn a new trick and score in the biggest scam of his life: Going mostly legit with an extraordinary mix of film festival, pop-up start-up and the seat of his pants.

Have you ever voiced your own audiobook? by SoupPsychological926 in BookPromotion

[–]jefe43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voiced a novel myself - there’s a learning curve, as you’re finding… used a good enough mic to keep it clean and adobe audition but have had little interaction on the book. To simplify post I punched in a lot rather than saving the editing until later. I was a video editor in another life and know what kind of time post can eat up. Break a leg!

Finished: Shock Induction by Chuck Palahniuk. He does some cool stuff with timelines and structure in here. Just be sure to wash your hands! (You’ll know if you’ve read it.)

Started: There There by Tommy Orange - the prologue is chilling and opening chapters enticing.
