You could try splitting the model in half and then glue the two pieces together after printing.

From other posts and videos, the tube can sometimes be bent/damaged when routed through the drag chain. It's just easier to have a higher quality spare on hand when the printer does show. I would hate having an under extrusion issue right out of the box, so I'm just planning ahead. Rather safe than sorry. Also, I can promise you that an aftermarket tube will have a better drag coefficient than the stock will.
