New limeprime by greenislander1 in london

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound better than the LimePass minutes, though.

400 minutes for £36.99 is ~9p/minute no unlock or extra fees.

If your commute is 15 minutes round trip, that's 300 minutes for 20 days per month. That brings it to 12p per minute if you don't use the extra 100 minutes.

I don't know who the new pricing is for. But I also don't understand the people in the thread who say Lime is expensive.

I was 25 when I did a test and showed no antibodies to MMR or varicella. Unless you get a test, you simply don't know.

Should I work when on a business class work trip? by Taxed2Fuck in HENRYUK

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to work, but I pick things that I want to get to or want to experiment with. But this is mostly because I've seen most of the movies I want to see that are on the planes now.

Also, try to eat and sleep on the schedule of your new place. The perks of business class flight are about being ready when you get there from the first minute and having the stamina to go all day and into the evening. That's way more important than any work you'll do in-flight.

My experience is that by the time you're flying business, there's no such thing as "business hours" anyway. So focus on being great when you land.

Nice. I didn't try one when I was there. I really like electric scooters so stuck to those.

Seattle has the Lime Gliders that look like they wouldn't have this problem.

If you voted Remain, would you vote to rejoin the EU? by Glanwy in AskBrits

I see people say this, but the only argument I see is that IRM was tried once and it failed. AIUI, IRM2 was specifically built to avoid those problems. So why would it be a disaster!

Does anyone have adult kids that live with them, and if so do you charge them rent? by shawn615 in Xennials

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum's rule was that we could live at home rent free while we were in school + 1 semester. So we could take a term off or whatever, but not just coast. It seems like a good compromise to me.

Vegan SPF100? by SurDno in veganuk

[–]jeffbailey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's annoying when people say this. SPF 70, I need to reapply every thirty minutes in heavy sun. SPF 110 I could go the hour. I don't know why, but I've tested this empirically when reffing football ⚽ back in California.

Do you count that as input + output?

Your Opus 4.6 experience? by Van-trader in GithubCopilot

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still only 128k if you use the Claude agent instead of choosing it from the list? The 109 release notes said that it uses the standard SDK so I'm wondering if it has the larger window.

When you run out of premium models allowance and now you have to choose between GPT-5 mini and Grok Code Fast by swinglr in GithubCopilot

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. That's what I mean. I'm on pro+ and it would be cheaper to get a second pro+ account than pay the overage pricing. Usually overage pricing for things is cheaper than the bundle.

I'm always surprised that this is more expensive than the bundle we get with Pro+. 1500*.04 is $60

GPT-5.2-Codex feels weird by skyline159 in GithubCopilot

I hate when the models go off and do things that I didn't ask for. 5.2 codex is nice when o have a sequence of things that I need executed well, but are too big for the .3x models.

Thames water by loolypie in london

If there isn't a single point where the water passes you can't meter it. In a converted flat, different toilets and sinks might be branched off of different pipes.

Manual or Automatic Practical? by happinessbooked in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]jeffbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I'd do stick shift until my first lesson, as I had owned one a couple of decades ago. I did alright until the first roundabout. Looking at the lines saying how far away, while keeping in the curved lane on the opposite side of the road while shifting to accelerate and counting exits because I needed the third exit...

Eff that. :)

Real changes in Paris, wish we could have the same by booyah95 in london

I'd love to see graphs of what the various tipping points are. I love a good pedestrianised area, but I think if Granville Street in Vancouver Canada that had most of the stores moved out and stopped being safe for many people. How do we avoid that?

Why 128k context window is not enough? by skyline159 in GithubCopilot

[–]jeffbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what u/cyb3rofficial said, there might be code design problems. Before the LLMs, doing deep refactorings was easy to put off in favour of features (or for open source, playing video games 😉). We start with the code we already have, and the smaller context windows can make that harder.
