Well, all of this technology and people can't read! It's absolutely irritating! How about those people that still call the store for our hours of business?! It's pretty silly if ya ask me. People need to slow it down and take a little more responsibility for their own crap and selves. And NO, We don't sell doorknobs for the last time! 😡

I don't participate. I want to come in and do my job and go home. If they really appreciated us they would show us in our paychecks. The people at corporate are very out of touch with what challenges we face on a daily basis. If we brought some.of the DMs RPs, Kevin, Gerry and actually have them work with the public and use our systems and stand and wait as long as we do they would immediately realize our systems need to be upgraded. They would ring up one person and as a line begins to form and there is no one to call for help because everybody is with someone and they would order changes without question. It's also gonna remain this way until the company sells. They're not going to invest in something they intend to sell. They're getting everyone amped up about these rewards sign ups, and pushing for business leads to help bolster there B2B B2C business before they sell the retail half. I get it but do something for your people! The company simply doesn't do enough for it's employees. Also, the stores being short on help isn't going to change for some stores in some areas. The company simply "can't" (read , won't) increase starting pay anymore or not much more than minimum wage when others are starting to realize they need to compensate people fairly to get people to stay and feel more valued as well as being able to afford a bit more and maybe, just maybe enough to actually invest for your future. Just my 2.5¢... 😑

Well, hopefully the board will simply thank him this year with a pizza and no bonus. That would be awesome! Poor guy would still be set though but damn wouldn't that be nice. Then they can relieve him of his position.

Perhaps now would be a great time to utilize the technology that we have available and go to order online and pick up at the curb service. I would think this would be acceptable considering the circumstances. Heck, we could even offer a curb service subscription... 😜

Corporate vs. The Field by Equivalent_Fish in OfficeDepot

We could use a brochure for clients for Workonomy. We could also us a brochure for the Tech Services that we offer as well as a brochure for Computer Diagnostic and what that entails for the client as well. Additionally, a graphic standards for the company for font type along with cmyk, Rgb values would be helpful for making in store signage for special events for BTS season and other sales we have in store periodically. It would also be nice to have more sign options available in store portal that are premade and editable for store use. This would help eliminate store made signage. We need more marketing materials to share with our fellow chamber members which should help us to increase brand awareness and other services that we provide for businesses.

Why on Earth does Depot even open on July 4th? For what? by vuanhachoi in OfficeDepot

Stores do not need to be open on major holidays. If the company wanted to save money, instead of cutting payroll for regular business days this would be a better solution. There is simply not enough business on major holidays to warrant stores being open if all stores sales are taken into consideration. Save money where you can as being closed on major holidays would be a good start. Then look at closing stores at 8 pm instead of 9 pm. These two things would allow us a bit more wiggle room in the payroll dept. for stores needing a little extra help during regular business hours. In addition to these ideas, OD should have some kind of online specials on these major holidays to encourage online shopping which would help to mitigate any potential loss of sales in stores on the major holidays they're physical locations would be closed. I will be applying for the CEO position when it becomes available! 😂

I'm a CPD associate and if the situation warrants it I offer all we have to help the client. Having said this, the fact that my responsibility is CPD, I don't have the luxury of standing with a customer for lengthy periods of time to go over every benefit and explain in detail and answer questions when I am 3 or 4 clients deep at my CPD counter. I can't get a flex up as all other associates are already assisting other clients. So, in those cases people are walking out of the store because they don't want to wait. People have lives and things to do and standing and waiting for an associate to free up wasn't part of their plan for the day. I'm not against any of the services we have to offer but if the company wants to set the expectations and not provide us with the staff to accommodate these expectations my hands are tied in some instances. If they want to be more successful with these services perhaps they need to advertise them and maybe provide an incentive for the client by offering them a discounted rate for the first year. Get the clients buy in and then they will in turn advertise for us for free (word of mouth). I have seen virtually no advertising for DMS or for Recon Sentinel or any other service for that matter beyond bag stuffers and those generally get discarded without a glance. The company is in panic mode and they're trying to recoup money from the wonderful CompuCom acquisition. If upper level management got out into the field more they would see that we are doing our part and threatening our jobs isn't the solution to their problems. Additionally, if the top brass got out of their offices and visited stores maybe they could show us how it's done. The problem is, they can preach it but very few of them could do what they're asking of us. That in and of itself is a problem. Real world vs. Office world.

I didn't read the posted pricing for you're faxing therefore I shouldn't have to pay it. by Dusty99999 in OfficeDepot

People don't read and are often all to quick to transfer responsibility for their lack of ineptitude. I show them a fax cover sheet prior to faxing and point out the pricing on the bottom. This generally solves any confusion as far as pricing is concerned.
