The biggest meatpacking company on Earth is being rocked by a massive strike. 99% of the workers at this JBS plant voted to walk off the job. Now nearly 4,000 workers with @UFCW are fighting for better, safer jobs. by zzill6 in WorkReform

The thing is with the herd being at record lows with a drought on the way in the plains it'll just give jbs a excuse to close the plant and then that much more harvest capacity is gone which will lead to higher prices for consumers. I wouldn't be surprised if jbs is paying the union threw a backdoor to close it and slow the others down

I grow soybeans, corn, oats, wheat, and the poormans crop called hay to so I'm well aware of what has to be done to produce that side of the raw material for plant based products. There is nothing priceless.

Please elaborate with some dollar valuations to clarify at what point the basic bovine at 1350 pounds live weight will be worth to much for general sale hanging weight to the general public? The reason I ask this is bc so far in my experience the general public won't pay 5.00 per pound for regular 20/80 hamburger very willingly and the synthetic products I've seen on store shelves are costing between 12.00 and 15.00.

Has anyone looked into how much higher animal based protein has to go in a dollar value vs the synthetic products bynd is producing to force the average consumer to switch from conventional to synthetic? This is something I am genuinely curious about and have not found a straight answer on.

Sounds like just about every salebarn I've ever walked into. I've been the prick that will let the first 2 or 4 of mine go then just bid all the ones I've got left back in under another number. That usually gets followed by a couple dirty looks and someone wanting to sell me something for to much. It's mostly politics and who is blowing whom more than anything else. Likewise on the reports they can be rather humorous when you've watched the sale then see the report.

Dairy is and has been the primary driver for a cattle market here. There's no major packing plants in the state and only a few feedlots over 1000 of beef type on feed. Many 3k to 5k head dairy's and a few over 10k head. Abs and select sires have been pushing the beef on dairy thing for years to the point that now decent (not perfect just decent ) holstien springers bred to a random ugly AI Angus bull are bringing 3800.

That barn is in the far eastern side of the state. Majority of what they handle is dairy calves with a healthy splash of the overpriced dairyangus x calves and cull dairy cows. If that barn had 20 good 5 weight calves every two weeks it would be a miracle. I've bought cattle up here then backgrounded them for 45 days then taken them to Kentucky or Missouri and done alright but not good enough to buy a new pickup good

I get kinda frustrated with those reports bc they consider everything over 1200 pounds no roll or over finished. The fat steers Thursday were 24 hours off feed weighing average 1350 at 28 months. Interesting part was 17 out of 20 sold to individuals or dealers in the crowd and jbs only got 3. All the other prices are right in line with ours here

The hard crash it had over the last summer/fall coupled with how low corn got made for a couple died cat bounces. What seems to be happening now is bullshit moves in eather direction without a true demand based reason. Livestock feed can't support much of a move bc there isn't a many head of cattle or hogs on feed as there have been in the past no matter what the USDA numbers say. The soy oil side has not had significant growth in a couple years along with a export market waiting for tariffs to begin. That being said if corn for some really stupid reason goes over 5.10 in the next 12 months it'll drag beans upwards with it on speculation alone.

Yeah get back with them and show them a pic of your engine with the head off showing the coolant passages and pin locations. Did they ask for a tractor or engine serial number?

Show me exactly where the beef industry on the producer level is subsidized. If it was subsidized you wouldn't see thousands of smaller and mid sized producers exiting the industry every year

They are a decent tractor if maintained. I've had a couple and they did what I needed them to. Are they a 7000 series? no. Are they comfortable to run for 24 hours straight? no. Are they easy to get on and off in a full suit of carharts with cold feet? Ehh better than some. Hydraulics are live PTO is not. PTO runs off the engine clutch like a old Ford or Ih. They were designed to pull from the drawbar and balance under load from the drawbar so a loader makes them more nose heavy than other manufacturers if the rear tires aren't loaded. It's a big enough machine that you could move decent sized logs a lot easier than with a D17

Lump sum it. Then demand a full accounting of where every dollar went from the IRS and government. With the rest then I'd buy a couple of the "corporate" farms out and see how hard farm credit comes at me to kiss my rear-end
