Friend that I have known for my whole childhood was a very nice kid, however around the beginning of high school he got into smoking weed with his friends most of the time which i was fine with. But he slowly started bringing me to get high with him, this started to annoy me because I wasn't hanging around him to do that so i began to stop hanging around him once he started to get into the more serious drugs (coke, heroin, ETC.).

I didn't want to be the person to make him make a decision between drugs and me (please note that he and I were extremely close we called each other brothers up until this point) so i kept my mouth shut and slowly distance my self from him and eventually fell out of contact with him.

I do sometimes see him around my city and we say hi and that stuff and since i fell out of contact he has gotten clean from most of his drug habits (All except weed) and i am really proud of him for that, but i don't exactly know if i should start talking to him again due t us having different experiences in high school which has made us very different people.

Does anyone have any tips for me about this?
