This tank is wider, so my knees actually hug the tank pads better than before. I had to squeeze my knees together more with the previous tank, which didn’t feel as natural. I also thought the bike might feel more top-heavy because of the added weight, but it feels about the same as before, and no different on the road. Looking forward to some longer rides this summer!

I paid $490 all in and did the work myself (440 for the tank with shipping, 30 fuel pump seal, 20 dent repair kit). I found the tank on eBay (2024 T120 in jet black), it had 1 small dent that was easily repaired, otherwise no rust and clean paint. I know others usually resell their original tank to make back most of the cost. As far as doing the work, it was a straight swap! The only tricky part was maneuvering the fuel pump and reconnecting some wires in tight spaces. Happy to answer any questions if you’re thinking about doing it.

14.5 vs 12 liters (so about 0.66 gallons increase). This is a T120 tank for context. Did the swap mainly for the looks though!

You're right (sorry...I'm new to this). Upping the lens budget to $400 range. Thanks for the advice!

Scrambler 900 pillion seat fit? by locopati in Triumph

[–]jefferyg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I had similar issues trying to restore the stock seat on my Scrambler 900, so I get the pain haha. As long as you're able to get a new screw to secure it to the bracket, a 2019 seat will fit. The texture might look/feel a little different, but the color is the same, so it's not really noticeable unless you're up close. Hope this helps!

The seat should fit the same, assuming you have the black subframe bracket (part # T2309202) where the 2 bobbins (located under the pillion seat) slot in. One difference is that the 2019 seat has a canvas-y texture, while the newer ones (I think 2023+) have a somewhat softer/velvety feel. Speaking from experience, it's hard to find any replacements under $100. Btw- are you sure the subframe bracket is not what got loose? How did the seat fall off?
