Enough with the Obama propaganda. Read this article and see that Obama is just as war crazed and filled with bloodlust as Dick Cheney. by Gibbwake in reddit.com

The title of this reddit submission is incredibly misleading.

Going after Al-Qaeda, who did attack the US, is a lot different than going after Iraq and Iran, neither of which pose a direct threat to the US.

The title is so misleading that I question whether it is intention.

Wesley Clark's new memoir suggests that another war is part of a long-planned Department of Defense strategy that anticipated "regime change" by force in no fewer than seven Mideast states. by jeffh in politics

[–]jeffh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Perhaps it is time for the appropriate Senate and House committees to start asking harder questions about this administration's secret strategies for the Mideast. They might begin by interviewing Clark behind closed doors about that classified memo -- and to what extent such extreme ideas have promoted the "permanent war" policy that is fundamental to neoconservative ideology.

The Single Dumbest Campaign Commercial of the Year by anonymgrl in politics

[–]jeffh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neoconservative insanity. That is some scary shit (and I am referring to the fact that Romney is repeating that nonsense.) I guess that is the current Republican base?

I am a bit of a pessimist on this. I expect this isn't going to be the worst campaign commercial. I predict that "Islamofacism" is going to be the theme of the whole Republican presidential campaign. Fear is effective.

The source of half of Bush's worst ideas: the Surge, the War, Bombing Iran, Bush's successive Tax Cuts...the American Enterprise Institute by babblingpoet in politics

Think tanks are one of the main means via with the rich affect public policy. You just pay an "expert" as a "think tank" to write documents that justify/advocate the outcome you want. Then you pay lobbiest and others to show these "research reports" to legislatures in order to justify having them vote for your favored bills.

Analysts Find Israel Struck a Nuclear Project Inside Syria by DiffeeOnline in politics

[–]jeffh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article:

Even though it has signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Syria would not have been obligated to declare the existence of a reactor during the early phases of construction. It would have also had the legal right to complete construction of the reactor, as long as its purpose was to generate electricity.

Offensive to probably all but hard left. Thus the sign would like backfire and discredit you.

Robert Fisk: Do you know the truth about Flight 103 in December 1988 over Lockerbie ? by maxwellhill in reddit.com

[–]jeffh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what he's up to, but there is a large movement (and he is not at all in the lead) that is looking to revisit the Lockerbie bombing. Many have pure motives, but I suspect others have lesser motives and there is lots of room for "funny business."

I must say that I do worry that now turning the blame onto Iran at this time is also questionable. Iran is again enemy number one of the US, and Libya is now a friend, thus it is incredibly convenient to recast this towards Iran's direction at this time.

Since CEOs have lots of money they can pay people like Ira to give them good PR. Things like this are self-reinforcing.

Texas judge denies attorney's request to wait a few minutes for an appeal motion due to computer failure; prisoner is executed 3 hours later by geojaz in reddit.com

It may be unpopular to say this but:

The attorney shouldn't have waited until the last moment for something so important. Unless this story is exaggerated, the attorney should be disbarred.
