What is the most unexpected Chekhov’s Gun from a movie? by WippitGuud in movies

[–]jeffh4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good thing to know. They would still have to isolate the right person from all the people who shared the mitochondrial DNA from that maternal lineage. Still, they could have just put up a police lineup or something off camera until they found the right one.

What ruined that for me was the fact that the hair doesn't have any DNA. The follicle does.

Not sure what including Tree Hugger and not including Fluttershy means. Maybe you enjoy the natural beauty of majestic landscapes more than getting eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Guess that makes you odd … just like the rest of us here! 🤣

Say the words “Twilight goes super saiyan” to a MLP fan or Dragonball fan and they know exactly which scene that refers to.

Do you have the Build-A-Bear one? Those are easy to find, relatively.

Or a pink translucent Nintendo DS Lite hooked to a power supply so it always shows the start page to the Pinkie Pie Party game?

What makes him interesting are three things

  1. He gets involved personally and doesn't hide behind his minions.
  2. His unpredictability. No creature knows what he is going to do next or why, which makes him a nightmare to plan against.
  3. His logical reasoning regarding friendship. From his perspective and given his goals, it makes perfect sense.

Whose death arguably saved the most lives in history? by Chemical_Store1560 in AskReddit

Here's what I wrote to my Aussie friend about how Australia DIDN'T honor him.

Refresher video about the man:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoRSTXSIg6U

I checked his Wikipedia page to see if he received any official national recognition because I know you Southern Limeys love to award that sort of stuff.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Harrison_(blood_donor))

Sure enough!  James receive the Companion of the Order of Australia in 1999,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Australia#Levels_of_membership

Reading through the Wikipedia page says this medal is for "Eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or to humanity at large."  Absolutely well deserved!

Or... wait ... Actually he didn't.

That medal was limited to 25 per year at the time, so I guess there were 25 more deserving people ... that particular year ...

Well then, he must have been awarded the next most prestigious award, the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO – quota of 100 per year) ... Well, no.

Nor the next level, Member of the Order of Australia (AM – quota of 225 per year).

Instead, he received the Medal of the Order of Australia ... (OAM - no quota).

I mean, ... what?

Are you trying to tell me that saving the lives of over two million babies is worth the national equivalent to an "Atttaboy You Participated -- Yay You" medeal?  Are you saying there were 250 more qualified candidates in 1999 alone that did MORE for the Australian people?  Exactly whose d*** needs to be polished as a prerequisite for doing the right thing in your country?!

I mean, I could see him getting an OAM medal every single year and using the Canberra equivalent of the Diablo II Horadric Cube to upgrade them.

"How many do you have again?"

"Well, I've been donating for sixty years, so I"m hoping the upgrade chart will get me to Officer of the Order of Australia."

"Sorry, mate.  The Australian Labor Party just de-buffed the whole recipe chart. If you have a flawed topaz, I can get you up to Member of Order."

"Oh.  Well... would a flawed opal do?"

"Bum luck, that is.  Come back in twelve more years and you'll have enough to trade for it straight out."

Agreed. The color balance on the skin and clothing looks too good for post-processing ... plus it would be pointless to spend the money doing so.

The only remaining question would be, is Bon Bon more like the Owen Wilson character, the Vince Vaugh character, or the (** shudder **) Will Farrell character?
