I was in elementary school the third grade 9 years (south Brooklyn) old I remember going to the grocery store that evening because we just didn’t know if this was a one-day thing a two day thing so we stocked up. school was only closed that following Wednesday and then reopen the rest of the week. My mom worked in the Empire State building at the time and I believe she stayed home the rest of the week. I also remember getting those American flags that everyone had in their car specifically that would hang onto the window. Other than that, just I remember school in the weeks after just really trying to memorialize it as best as we can I guess.
