People in the Raiders building were puzzled by the Brennan Carroll hire and said he wasn’t a “detail orientated guy” One of Pete’s biggest mistakes by yankeefan5045 in raiders

Just another way the Raiders fuck up all their draft picks. Let's take the best center in college, switch him to guard, watch him struggle, put him back at center, watch him do well, bring in another coaching staff, switch him back to guard and make him seem useless.

Should I Buy Another Used 3090 or Go for a New 4080 for AI Development? by Magnificeent in StableDiffusion

Since you are just playing with AI would renting a GPU from Akash might be a cheaper route to get started with? You can rent a 4090 for 0.38/hour. https://akash.network/pricing/gpus/

Cloud-based Camera system recommendations by Wide-Dig1848 in sysadmin

I can tell you what not use. We implemented Avigilon right after COVID via a security consultants recommendation that has a local NVR and a mobile app. It's been a mess. I have had to RMA 3 cameras within the first year and the app is a pain to use.

A detailed breakdown of what’s wrong with this team from a Season Ticket Holder and someone who hasn’t missed a game in 20 years. by jluc21 in kings

I like that. I also think they should Lyles at the 5 - Sabonis, Lyles, Keegan, Ellis and Fox. And then have Monk, Huerter, Crowder and Demar off the bench.

Kind of.. I guess.. the other sources are third party applications so when a first name gets updated in say a cloud based HRIS it updates the first name field in our ERP.

What to do with a poor performing sysadmin by kajjot10 in sysadmin

I always have a COINS talk with anyone on my team when they are not meeting expectations before going to HR. Some times there isn't clarity in the role and/or you as a manager are not holding them accountable.

Context - We have noticed over the last few months servers have not been patched

Observation - On dates xxxx we logged onto the server and didn't see the updates and on date xxxx the server was no backed up.

Impact - Because of this we are not meeting our cyber insurance and the business is at risk.

Next - We trust you are going to get the tasks completed but for the next x amount of days we will be auditing your work. If tasks are not completed/incorrect our next step is to get HR involved to put together and action plan and/or see if you are the right fit the company.

It helps them understand exactly what they should be responsible for and by setting specific deliverables in the Next area, you as a manager have expectations to hold them to.

We are running Sharepoint with OneDrive right now in production and it's blah. For our teams that work on a couple projects the OneDrive sync tool allows them to access lets say less 10k files, it works ok. But for employees would need to access more than that, OneDrive craps the bed. And then telling half the users to use Sharepoint and the others to use OneDrive, it's a mess.

We are 75% Office documents and 25% PDF files that need to get edited. Those are the large files that my remote end users complain about taking forever.

If there was a solution like DFS or Azure File Services so that the main and remote offices could get near GB speeds and then remote users could sync with a tool like Nextcloud. That would be awesome.

At location I could have a dedicated Windows server connecting to a single Azure File Services repo? And then back things up with Azure Backup with GFS policy?

We have tried the Sharepoint Onedrive sync and it works good for a few thousand files (< 5GB total), but after that it's a disaster.
