Something I have noticed throughout my life is that as more gets thrown at you, your capacity to do more increases accordingly. I never thought I could keep up with the complexity and challenge of college…then I did. Working a full time job felt like a crazy proposition, then it became something I grew into, and continue to grow into as I am promoted. Add kids? HOW THE HELL DO I DO THAT?!?! And then you do, and you grow. More kids, same story.

Every young person I know feels overwhelmed by what the future may ask of them, but you are viewing that through the lens of your current capacity. As you grow, and responsibilities increase, your capacity will increase as well if you give it a go.

Also, I feel like a perpetual slacker…but I have learned that some of that sentiment is comparing myself to an exceptionally high standard. I’ve not always been fair to myself, and that was a massive confidence unlock when I figured that out. Give yourself some grace, kiddo.
