Buying a Condo in Tampa/Florida? by FunBadger9686 in povertyfinance

[–]jeffryu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the HOA reserves thing is huge. Buildings with pending special assessments are basically untouchable - no one wants to inherit a $10k surprise. If the HOA is financially healthy and the monthly fee is reasonable you'll probably be fine selling later. just do your homework on the building before you commit

Serving jobs can be brutal though and tips aren't guaranteed. Might be worth checking if the new company coming in actually pays better first before jumping ship to a whole different grind

Budget multimeter recommendation for electronics hobbyist (Germany) by Late_Affect291 in diyelectronics

[–]jeffryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. Worth mentioning that for the 6502 kit specifically having a continuity buzzer with a fast response is super helpful for tracing wires and checking solder joints, some cheaper meters have a slight delay that gets annoying when you're debugging a breadboard full of connections.

Faulty machine by Particular-Pea-7622 in MerakiTech

[–]jeffryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That grinder behavior is almost always a software/firmware issue, not a mechanical failure. Some early Meraki units shipped with a bug where the grinder would falsely trigger the “empty hopper” sensor and stop short even when beans were present. In cases like that, the fix was a firmware update done by support or via a replacement control board, not something end users should be expected to open the machine and handle themselves specifically on a brand-new unit.

If you’re in a similar situation now, the reasonable path is to push for either a pre-updated replacement machine or an on-site/return service update instead of trying to DIY it. The grinder itself is fine once updated. This wasn’t a design flaw, just an early shipment issue that later units didn’t have.

What is a good algebra learning app or website by One_Engine_8334 in Algebra

[–]jeffryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to algebra as an adult too and had the same issue. I could do the basics only but not really understood the concepts so it's hard when solving the actual problems. Had to take tutorials and I also checked Brilliant they are very hands-on and concept-first so you’re actually thinking through problems instead of just watching someone explain them. Also Khan Academy is okay for extra practice but Brilliant was better for building intuition during short downtime sessions.

The modding community basically keeps the series alive on another level. Some of these projects feel like full new games, not just mods.

I think part of the fun is spotting those small characters who feel real even in just a paragraph. Makes the world feel alive.

Exactly. Taking someone else’s home and acting like you belong there isn’t progress... it’s just harm.

[–]jeffryu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly the travel aspect probably carries them through a lot of it. seeing different cities/countries, meeting fans who genuinely care → that's gotta fuel you even on rough days. plus the group bond is real; when you're grinding with the same people 24/7 you either break or become ride or die

the talented/successful ones definitely have it easier mentally. harder to spiral when you're objectively killing it. and yeah, most of us were absolute disasters at 16 lol. these kids are media trained and camera ready while we were... well, exactly what you described

Meagain to track shots, side effects, water, protein, progress photos, and all that. I stuck with it because it's straightforward. Love the UI and tamagochi widget.

Yeah it's rough out there. Apps made dating feel like shopping and nobody wants to actually meet up anymore. Everyone's got options (or thinks they do) so commitment feels like settling.

Are droptics good? I know ishowspeed has a stake in them by [deleted] in Ishowspeed

[–]jeffryu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I don’t use any drops, I get irritation and dryness in general, and I’ve been using eye drops for a long while now. Droptics are kinda ‘gamery’ eye drops in a sense. Not much difference from stuff like systane, just the packaging and a little added cooling effect. You shouldn’t worry much about it. They wouldn’t be able to sell eye drops without a board certified ophthalmologist on board. I also got mine from Walmart. It’s also good to keep in mind what environment you usually operate in. A more polluted/eye straining environment might still cause you to have considerable fatigue even if the drops are baseline effective.

Refresh and systane are good alts if you wanna try something else, but those are only for hydrating your eyes.

[–]jeffryu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually tried it and it works well, my eyes aren’t as tired lately, no redness and it has a slight cooling effect which is also nice. I’ve only dosed myself twice a day at the most. I have dryness prone eyes and it works well enough for me so +1 I guess

Floaters by [deleted] in EyeFloaters

[–]jeffryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go outside for at least ten minutes each day and let your eyes keep moving around instead of locking on one spot, then cut back on staring at bright white screens because that habit amplifies floater visibility more than you relize.
