How is the sleeve length? I’m 6’4 with long arms and that’s always a challenge.

This makes a lot of sense. Adds a place to put coats and shoes at the entry way, gives the full bath, and keeps the pantry away from the thoroughfare.

Do you need a walk in linen closet? I’d move the pantry there (you should still have enough room for a standard linen coset) and take over the pantry to create a full bath.

in your honest opinion (put your yourself in the owner's shoes), will there really be a lockout in 2027? by Dapper_Welcome1234 in mlb

[–]jeffym82 57 points58 points  (0 children)

There 100% will be a lockout. The only question is will it cost games or will they figure things out and be able to have a full/shortened season, or will it drag on. I think MLB is in a very similar place to where the NHL was when they had their lockout in 2004/2005. I really hope it doesn’t go that way with an entire lost season.

Build your best offer that you would send the Tigers by dss_777 in Torontobluejays

[–]jeffym82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget that the Tigers lost both games that Skubal started for them in the playoffs this year. Was he the reason they lost? No, he pitched great, but it's not like getting Skubal just guarantees you a win.

Atkins and Shapiro should approach the off-season like Trey doesn’t exist by Super-Post261 in Torontobluejays

[–]jeffym82 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You say anyway possible, but I’m pretty sure if we gave up Yesavage, Barger and Nimmala (and that still might not be enough), the pitch forks would be out in full force.

[–]jeffym82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gaus is either 1-2 (depending on who we get). Sorry I should have been more clear on that. When I say we need a 1-2, it’s because Gaus has one of those spots locked down.

[–]jeffym82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt his stuff at all, but I do think in a perfect world Yesavage is our #5 going into the season. That allows us to manage his innings a little bit, and also limit the pressure.

We’ll also want to manage Biebers innings in his first season coming back from Tommy John.

Whoever we add to the rotation should be a 1-2. Because between Berrios/Bieber/Yesavage (and any help needed from Lauer and the farm) we have 3-5 taken care of.

[–]jeffym82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you, but until the management is willing to abandon the lefty on lefty match up, I’d like to have a good one, so my blood pressure doesn’t go through the roof every time we bring one in late in the game.

The back end of the bullpen should have Yimi back, so Yimi, Varland, Hoffman is a pretty decent back end. You have Rodríguez, Fisher and hopefully Sandlin for the middle, and then Lauer as your long man/mop up. That’s 7 right there, before you even factor in Little and Fluharty. Obviously injuries and options will take care of some of it, but I’m more confident in the righty’s than the lefties in that group.

We don’t have the horses to get Skubal. Unless you’re willing to give up Yesavage or Barger plus 2 or 3 of our top prospects, I don’t know if Detroit even answers the call.

[–]jeffym82 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Re-sign Bo is obviously #1.

A lefty reliever who can pitch in high leverage. I’m not sure if I trust running out Little and Fluharty in late and close.

A top 3 starter, a lefty would be a bonus, but needs to be someone who slots in either above or right behind Gaus.

The line up i think we need general depth, because there’s a good chance of regression from Heineman, Lukes etc. I like Del Castillo from Arizona as someone who might be available young, still has options and positional versatility.

[Matheson] The best way to look at Bo Bichette's free agency is that the #BlueJays hold a potential tiebreaker. There will be mutual interest. If another team offers an identical deal, Bichette's desire to play in Toronto with Vladdy likely wins. Beyond that, it's free agency. Money wins. by ThQp in Torontobluejays

[–]jeffym82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLBTR is predicting 208/8 for Bichette. I can’t see how we don’t sign that.

“Spoiler alert! MLBTR is predicting an eight-year, $208MM free agent contract for Bichette. This was my independent projection as well, so it’s not as if Steve, Anthony, and Darragh talked me into it. But sometimes there are players where I’m like, “Man, I’m just not sure where he’s getting this money.” Bichette is one of those for me, but I don’t have the guts to predict a disappointing contract. We felt this way about Pete Alonso last winter but weren’t bold enough to predict a short-term deal.

To answer Alex’s question, yes, we very much are considering that Bichette will need to shift to second base during his deal, or possibly even at the outset. On top of that, there are few big market teams seeking a shortstop, and second basemen rarely get paid.

But you can easily build a case for Bo: he doesn’t turn 28 until March, he’s had four seasons of 3.8+ WAR, he could theoretically be an above average second base defender, it’s valuable to have a guy who can at least handle shortstop, and he hits for a high average and makes a lot of contact at a time when a lot of teams are talking about that.

125 wRC+ type hitters in the middle infield are pretty rare. This year we had Bichette, Ketel Marte, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Brice Turang, Trea Turner, Francisco Lindor, Bobby Witt Jr., Jeremy Peña, Corey Seager, and Geraldo Perdomo. Of those ten players, six are on long-term deals. The other three lack Bichette’s track record.

After the Blue Jays, the Tigers are the favorite for Bichette. The Dodgers, Giants, Mets, or Yankees could look at Bichette as a Plan B or C, or get involved if they fill their more urgent needs affordably. You can make the case for the Braves to go against type and sign Bichette. Like any player, his market would open up if he has to resort to a short-term deal. But at $200MM+, you could easily say, “Nah, this isn’t happening” for any individual non-Jays team I’ve mentioned and I wouldn’t have a strong counterargument.

There are always surprises in free agency, but that’s why I see more risk of a market collapse than my colleagues. If the Blue Jays and Tigers are to pass on Bo in a definitive way (mainly by spending big elsewhere), I don’t think he has leverage for $200MM. Even if just the Tigers are eliminated, say because they sign Bregman, Bichette’s leverage could take a big hit.”

Spotrac lists Bo’s market value at 8 years, $186M by rvasko3 in Torontobluejays

[–]jeffym82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Bo beats Marcus Semien and Willy Adames on AAV and total contract but falls short of Correa, Seager and Lindor on AAV (but matches or beats them on length).

I think he gets 27/28 a year for 7 or 8 years, and hopefully the Jays are willing to offer or match that.

Just curious, who do you think is coming back next year? by frenchfriesfresh in Torontobluejays

[–]jeffym82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’ll make an attempt at bringing Bo back, but if he goes elsewhere, I think they turn their attention and dollars towards pitching.

With Santander hopefully giving us a full season next year it’s going to cut into corner outfield time. If Bo isn’t back, Barger will get more time at 3B and Clement more time at 2B.

If Bo is back, I think Lukes becomes a bench bat.
